    Default 2017 European PGA Tour

Rory shoots 5-under in South Africa in first round with new sticks. Seven birdies mixed with two bogeys, one shot off the lead at this stage. Solid start for the awesome little Northern Irish master. Hoping he has a massive year in 2017.

His driving was pretty ordinary and I thought his overall ball striking was off as noted by the 2 shots that lead to the bogeys.

Seemed to be doing a lot of 'drills' in between shots. First day back and all.

Man.... Rory is putting on an absolute clinic since making a double on four. 4 birdies and an eagle and a drive of more than 350 METRES!!!

Make that 5 birdies. Another from 20 odd feet on 14.

Well done Graeme Storm. Didn't have his card three months ago, now has his first win on the European Tour in yonks!

Was a superb final round at the SA Open.
Very nearly a three-man play-off with all three blokes who played in the final group.
Jordan Smith looks like he's shaping up to be a superb player - that 300-yard 3-iron to drive that par 4 green in R3 was hardcore (even if the hole was playing downwind). He didn't even look like he was trying to blitz it - looks like he has a smooth, languid swing. Imagine the 2018 Ryder Cup Singles match - Jordan Smith V Jordan Spieth...too funny.
Anyways, shame Rory couldn't kick off his 2017 campaign with a win. His approach into the green on the last play-off hole was pretty funky. Very happy for Stormy though...so was Rory. Hopefully Rory's back concerns aren't anything serious.

Worst possible result for those of us who like attacking golf. Storm lays up with 3 wood to fairway, and leaves his approach 50 feet short three times, but eventually wins with par.

Rory pumps his first drive 80m (or more) past him, uses driver all three times, but eventually his driver lets him down and his scrambling can't get him out of it.

Despite the playoff result, it was a great week for Rory. If he can find more fairways (I might lend him my Hibore Monster) he'll be right at the top all year.

Really? That's what you got from that tourney? Didn't have his card in October last year, gets into a tourney late last year as an alternate and finishes top ten I think to keep his card and then wins early this year in a playoff against the world number 2! You're tough to please Jim.

He got his card back because Patrick Reed didn't play the required number of rounds on the EuropeanTour and relinquished his card. Hence he dropped out and allowed Storm to move up the one spot to get his card. He was only €100 short as it was.

Thanks Bushy. I heard that Reed had pulled out of a tourney which allowed Storm to play and get his card back but that was obviously crap info.

This week is going to be gangbusters in Abu Dhabi. Lots of big names minus Rory which is a bit sad
