Was taking way too long for the players last night. Chia had 5 off the first tee.

I'm a bit torn between thinking it is a great course to watch events on TV, or the worst course in the world for a mortal to play. Some of the greens are ridiculous and it appears to be all risk and no reward. I can't imagine shooting 120 around there would be much fun.
The hillclimb up 17 is a joke. I don't think I've ever seen a hole with a longer and steeper slope. Imagine walking up that four days in a row, carrying a fully laden pro bag.
The scores partly explain the pace of play. We aren't seeing them searching for balls and doing the walk of shame when they can't find them. Some of the scores back in the field have been huge.
I was disappointed not to see anybody trying to play out of the bunkers with the 20 foot face though. An up and down from one of those would be something to boast about.

Look like sand bags
They explained it on the coverage last night. Some form of geo-tech material. I thought it was bamboo at first.
Was a lacklustre finish, SSP basically chipped it up the last with huge lead. The question will be if it ever makes a return trip to this course. Would love to play it, not for money though. Most of the field will have to have a month off recovering from Post Traumatic Stress.

I really liked it. Not the course as such, just the fact it was totally different to what we normally see.
Kind of reminded me of a video game course.

I saw yesterday that the Course Eclectic was 65 over the card.

I think they said there had been a 12 scored on the last, hence SSP's caution.
That track looked frikkin amazing
It looked seriously shithouse imho. Stupidly severe, penal. Can't imagine it is much fun to play.
Calling CT
For the competent golfer it looks like it would be fun, but probably a bit of a oncer. Looked a bit like Tobacco Road which polarises people (I love it)
I do wonder in an "emerging" golf country what you the design brief to Player was.
One would think that a less penal offering might have been the way to go.
Its polarising. The bunkers and artificial quarry looked unlike anything you have ever seen before, and the greens were borderline insane in some cases. I thought it was a console game course, with 100% scale up, turned into reality. Is it the future design for new penal championship courses?
For the difficulty and windiness of the site, the fairways seemed far too narrow, but I liked the huge variety in tee boxes which changed the way various holes could be played.
I assume the brief was 'make the hardest, most spectacular course you can. Make it look great for TV, and a place golfers aspire to play - once'
But look at it this way - I don't recall any other Euro or PGA Tour course generating this level of discussion in the last year or two.

I think the course was designed by Gary Player.

The Delhi Course, where they normally play this event, is just as tough. It is just not quite as visually striking.
More snakes on the old course!

What are peoples take on this 6er's comp on at the moment.
I like the shot clock thing going on. They had 40 seconds to hit the ball.
Reduced down to 30 seconds for the final rounds. If they don't hit their shot in the allocated time then it is a penalty.

I don't mind the concept. Seems to be quite good. I'm sure they'll tweak it a little but don't mind the short format. The players seem to be enjoying it too which means they'll go back to play again.
Gotta say though that the Aussies team shirts look like they're coming out for an episode of Jack High! I'm not the fashionista but they look dreadful! Sorry guys but hope you win it.
I didn't mind it the concept and if their trying to draw a younger crowd into golf, good for them.
It's like the 20/20 of golf.
We have just introduced a short course at our club to encourage different people to participate and get interested in golf. Longest hole would be around 200m.
