The 2017 Ozgolf Qld Champs "save the date" thread!

Good day fellow Ozgolfers! Courty and I wish to announce a "save the date" for this years QLD championships.

We are heading North. Waaaaaaaay North! 4 days of fun in the glorious northern sun.

Kicking off Friday 8th September, and finishing on Monday 11th September. Come and join us where it is warm....



Bring the family, make a holiday of it, get away from that dastardly southern weather.

Event Calendar:
Friday 8th September (12:00pm):
Come and get your 2 ball on in the Annual 2-Ball banana cup at the tropical Cairns GC. http://www.cairnsgolfclub.com.au/

Saturday 9th September (11:15am):
Rumble in the Jungle, Day 1 of the Qld champs. Palmer Sea Reef. http://www.palmergolf.com.au/cms/palmer-sea-reef/

Sunday 10th September (9:00am):
The grand finale, Day 2 of Qld Champs. Paradise Palms. http://www.paradisepalms.com.au/golf/

Monday 11th September (7:30am):
A quaint little wind down to be held at Half Moon Bay GC. http://halfmoonbaygolf.com.au/

What else is included?
There will be prizes, a putting comp, a Casino, beaches, sun, and backpackers. Need I say more?

I also expect we can rustle up a Thursday round (Mareeba / Gordonvale etc) for those inclined.

Accommodation options are still being sorted, and once finalised the full thread will be announced. Flights available from all 4 carriers.

Bloody Hell mate, how did I miss news as momentous as this?!?!? Welcome aboard.

OK guys, the move to Korea stalled the accommodation front. But I do have some budget numbers if that helps people work out a budget/flights etc.

Accom: Aiming for $100 per night per room. Some rooms fit 2 people, so if you want a roomy $50/night.

Golf (includes prize money):
Friday - Cairns GC - $35 plus $40 for a cart ($20 ea)
Sat - Palmer - $120 inc cart
Sun -Paradise Palms - $110 inc cart
Mon - Half Moon Bay - $40 plus $30 for a cart ($15 ea)

I'm happy to organize a hit at Gordonvale Golf Club (www.gordonvalegolfclub.com.au) on the Thursday if anyone is keen. There is a comp on so it might be a late opportunity to do some farming (literally) before the Champs.

Gordonvale also has a very highly rated pie shop so I'm sure a pre tee-off visit for a pie or pastry could be arranged.

They don't seem to do the mushy pea thing south of the border, which is a great blight on them! With the exception of Harry's cafe de wheels.

Howdy Shaz,

We had a couple of little hiccups. One gave us the wrong price and one kicked us out as we were an "end of season sports trip".

Anyway, will have confirmation tomorrow, but will be booking 8 rooms.

Each room has 1 king single and 1 queen bed. Rooms have interconnecting access for families (becomes a 2 room facility etc).

$109/night per room including breakfast. So solos $109, sharers $55.

Hotel is 1.5km from city centre on the Cairns esplanade across from the beach. Has parking, a pool/spa, and most importantly, appears to be next to a bottle shop.
