I bought mine today. 5.5 KVA of diesel powered awesomeness. No dramas getting fuel this arvo out at Bentley. Big queues, but very patient, friendly punters.

Here's a pic taken about 5 minutes ago (for posterity's sake) from my front yard. I'll take another one on Thursday to compare. Any bets on whether that big palm tree across the road will still be standing?

I wish that was the case but we're only 60 k inland. Likely to still be a cat 4 when it rolls over the top of us.

We were looking at a similar sky this arv. Hard to believe what's beyond the horizon.

Lots of scared people up this way. Mother nature can be a real bitch sometimes.

Stay safe all the FNQ guys and girls. See you on the other side of this.

That pic reminds me of when old darwin locals would get toey. When everything went very still and felt 'eery', they said that was just what it was like before Tracy hit.

Keep safe you guys, no 5.30 am hit -off tomorrow for a quick 9-holes.

    Hadn't thought of that.

Now driving to Rocky in the morning. Supposed to drive back Saturday. Expecting to be up your way sometime in the next 10 days if this thing goes bad.

Fingers crossed it doesn't. Grantham was enough destruction for this little black duck.

If you make it up here (Don't take it personal, but I really hope you don't) We should see if there's a golf course left to have a hit on.

If it involves running, you can count Haysey out.

Good luck to everyone in and around Cairns! She's a big unit alright.
We're still at home, after a reduction in the storm surge threat. But we're still ready to evacuate at any minute!
They're currently performing mandatory evacuations in some of the lower suburbs in town, so time will tell if we make the list.
To compare, most of the lower suburbs are approximately 5mt above sea-level. We are at 12mt, so hopefully we'll be right.

Won't be long and it'll be appearing on Willis Isl radar- http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR411.loop.shtml#skip

All the best guys up in Cairns & NQ.

Mother of all storms up there and we are melting down here, hit 42 today and is still 33 now. I think it is a conspiracy from the elec companies now that they have promise power bill cuts for the election.

Just got a recorded message saying be prepared to evacuate. We're 28 metres above sea level so I think I'll stay put.

Done deal. I'm sure borrowing a set of crubs won't be an issue.
