So I guess I should just rip up all of the pipes and spinklers that were installed thoroughout the yard.

What a load of crap. As if they would ban sprinklers forever. Peoples memories are short.

jarro, my electronic sprinkler system hadn't even been completely installed. It was partially installed when we bought the place, we fixed it up and changed a few things and I only had a couple of little things to do and it would have been finished. I'm hoping it comes back at some stage.
I don't have plans for a rainwater tank. I don't care about the garden that much. In fact, I've just gone on a roundup spree.

Full release would mean you could water 24/7. That's fine, but you could still use sprinklers if the hours were limited like they were a couple of levels back.

I am thinking of getting off my date and installing one again. Got to clear the area down the side of the house and see what size tank I can fit in.
Would be good to be able to water lawns at will, rather than the Sundays and Wednesdays at the moment.

I don't think there's any need for a full release of water restrictions. Up here I think they are released at like 50%. But really, the 1st level of restrictions only brings in odd/even day watering between certain hours. Who needs to water their garden/lawn 7 days a week.
Personally up here I think private bores should be under the restrictions, and if bad enough even water tanks.
I haven't watered my lawn ever, and haven't done the garden in maybe 5 or 6 years. Heck, only shower twice a week (see if you can guess which week of the year that is too )
Go and stuff some chairs. Some people like their gardens (lawn etc) and should be able to work on them. Of course, water in Poowoomba is feral anyway ...

same way they ping people now - encourage the nieghbours to dob in anyone breaking the rules.
During the last big rain storm we had here my neighbour had the sprinkler out on his lawn! I'm guessing his 3 tanks were full and it was just from the overflow, but it looked nuts.
A huge rain storm just came through the western suburbs of Brisbane. There is now a lake in my backyard (there are a couple of drainage issues around the side). It must have been at least 3 years since that happened.
That Rainbow is witness to a lot of flooding out this way.
