Good luck with the postie Dion, they have their own rules. Stakes with tape strung out tends to keep them off.

We dumped 75mm out of the rain guage tonight. A mate of mine here from near Toowoomba was crying ...

i remember complaining to Australia Post about a certain postie that used to ride all across my beautifully manicured footpath.

They told me he was supposed to take the most direct route from the road to your mailbox instead of riding all around the street on the footpath.

I have a power-pole right outside my house, so i ended up attaching a cheap mailbox there so the guy had to ride on the road ..... problem solved

Perfect one day, D!cky here the next.

Cold, miserable and wet today - although not exactly 'raining'.

Ok - I'm at Tweed Heads, and it has been drizzling reasonably consistently for the last 24hrs. I am now officially sick of it raining - drought or no drought.....

ooooh that'll go down a treat in my neighbourhood!

Can't believe the catchment areas NEVER seem to get any rain.... At what time do the powers that be make the call to build new dams where it does actually rain....?? The bloody gold & sunshine coasts have got more water than they know what to do with, for chrissakes!

The main issue is the dams are flood mitagation not for water catchment. The wolfdene dam might have helped a lot (despite moving heaps of people etc) They should build dams up near serena and pump the water down. The catchments will get rain again, it is just a long drought, they have to break sometime.

I just checked the timesheet for my swim tomorrow at Emerald Lake for the final heat of the club champs.

Would you believe? Of all people, I am playing with Neil Brooks

the weather should be clearing by the afternoon according to the weather bureau. just my luck i am teeing off at 6.30am.

For those of you who have not yet seen Emerald Lake at full capacity http://www.theblake.net/golf/course.htm

    Blakey,

I've just been sitting out on the SIL's verandah admiring the swimming hole that is apparently Banora golf course.... what a swamp - looks just like your photos of Emmy Lake.

Emerald Lakes was fine today - well as fine as can be expected (draiins much better now that the entire complex is finished and i dare say 10x better than Banora)

because of the design of the fairways, undulated with hollows everywhere the high points were quite dry. But also with catchment areas to drains that are quite large, there were many 20m radius ponds in the fairways, and most full of golf balls ! when they can be 2ft deep in the middle who cares about retreiving them.... I lost one, at 210-230 from the tee there was not much chance of missing it.

Neil Brooks pulled out, he might have been a handy partner today

yeah, you could tell couldn't you

for that amount of water they've received, i think it's a fantastic effort that the course was even playable

Sounds like Sydney -it (until 2weeks ago) had pissed down here for a month and all you heard was "it isn't raining in the catchment areas".

Interesting fact which was quoted at a recent lunch I attended. Roughly 3 times as much water as Sydney uses falls as rain on the metro area (i.e. not the catchment or other feeder areas). In other words we do not have a water issue we have a water collection issue.
