I really thought people got eagles more often. I have 2, one a hole out from 100m, another a hole in one on a par 3. I have had maybe less than 10 eagle putts on a par 4 or 5, but haven't made any of them.

    I've had 4 eagles, all par 5s.
Mrs. Lover had one from the trees 145m out at Barmera in the last of her 5-6 games she played.

When I was a kid we would do the occasional bit of golf ball thieving on a par 3 hole where the players couldn't see the green. To compensate for the thievery we would kick a few close ones into the hole.

I think they're rarer than you think. As I said, I've gotten 3. But never witnessed a hole in one ever; and I've only ever witnessed 2 eagles by others in my life. Both on the short 4th par 4 at Gailes and both bu my two playing partners in a round there. One drove the green and sunk the putt and the other chipped in from over the back. They were both sub 3 markers and I was off about 21. That was an interesting round.

I suppose the expectation was higher after seeing so many on tv. Now I think about it, I can't recall the last time I saw a playing partner have one either.

Yep. The only hole in one I've ever seen is the one I made.

I've seen quite a few putted eagles by low markers, which doesn't really count. But I'm struggling to think of more than 2 or 3 hole outs by playing partners from the fairway.

Yes, I do remember that. Almost as impressive as my birdie on 16.

    No double eagles
    1x Ace
    7x eagle par 4's. 3 of them putted. Longest hole out 130ish m 9iron.
No eagled par 5's until I started playing at my current club (had a multitude of failed opportunities). Got 7 in 4yrs so far.

I've had more Eagles in the 4yrs at my current club than the 25-30yrs playing at others before that.

Can't remember how many eagles I've made. Would be 40+ but most on short (280m or less) par 4's and the odd par 5. Never had an Albatross or an ace.

    Nice one Goldy.

I will wait for the day I get a hole in one. Probably getting struck by lightning straight after winning the lotto has more probability.

Waza...I'm thinking that everyone who's had one thinks that.

    And then a miracle occurs....

    Nicely done Goldy.

I had my first hole in one at Barnbougle on the 13th last Thursday. Not in a comp unfortunately for the pureists but the setting was spectacular.

Yeah...I know the comp versus social argument. You still hit the shot...and what a place to do it. How did you feel...did you see it drop?

I'll put the story in the HIO thread
