    Default Golf Goals For 2017

It's an oldie but a goodie kinda thread.
What are your hopes or dreams for 2017 in terms of golf performance or non performance?

I want to shoot under par on my home course Penrith. I've shot even a few times & truly believe I can go under but I just need to get out of my own way & not choke when the occasion arises.

Play at the Qld OZgolf Champs and win with my 36 handicap. Nothing else at this stage.

I have a few goals this year, I turn 60 in late October so to make it and to be still playing golf is the first .
After that is to win a monthly medal , haven't won one for a couple years
I want to be playing to a ga of 6 by my birthday
To increase my strength and flexibility
To lose 15 kg and be 85 kg by 1/11/17
The last couple will help to achieve the first couple
Hopefully I will be able to change my handle to happy 6

I have been thinking about this for the last few days actually.

In the last month or so I have got the desire back to play golf frequently and work at improving. It has been a while since I have felt this way and the last 4-5 years I have really just been playing enough for it to be frustrating. I had 11 golf link rounds last year.

    So Goals
    1. Play more, I want to play at least once every 2 weeks.
    2. Practice more. At least 1 session a week at the range (I am planning on lessons so I know what to work on) and at least 15 minutes per day at home on short game.
    3. Play at least 4 of the local district opens, I have become a one course player and I want to break out of that.
    4. Get handicap below 3. I have been down to 3.9 before.
    5. If I achieve goal 4 I will attempt to play the Vic Amateur at the end of the year (if I can get in the field)....this is a lofty goal for me but a stretch target is good!

Sounds like Toolish should join us at the Vic Champs! Goals for me? Just the usual - play more regularly, and maybe even practice occasionally, then see if that translates into some sort of improvement. It would be nice to move the cap down towards 12 or better, which is looking like a pretty big ask right now. I'm also hoping for at least a couple of rounds better than 25 points in the Vic Champs - that would be a welcome improvement on last year.
Still not playing enough GolfLink | Slightly less terrible stats brought to you by Golfshot - F: 57%, GIR: 23%, UD: 14%, P: 34. Wow, improvement! | Nickent brand ho or tightarse? You be the judge!

Goal #1 - I'm staying off the drink for 3 months and getting more fitness work in. Will see if this translates to better golf?Goal #2 - Reduce my ho'ing slightly but mainly if I do ho then I don't get rid of everything I already have.

1.Improve my short game , especially 20m and in. 2. Hit the fairway on the 10th at Cabra rather then the hwy. 3.Birdie every hole at least once at my home track. 4. Play the tassie courses. 5. Get my GA back under 10 and actually play to it.

Play better as I've only beaten my handicap once in 40 comp rounds this year (I'm excluding rounds with a favourable DSR).

Find what I need to change to stop choking when I have a decent round going.

I officially joined a club this week which I think was on the golf new year's resolutions thread a few years back. Now it's just playing at least once every week until Vic Champs.

Afterwards is just aiming to play at least fortnightly and do some planned practice as well.

Leave any handicap goals and such to 2018.

Try to get rid of a few extra kilos that are bugging me (20 of the bastads) Reduce my lowest handicap lower than previous best of 4.8. The way I am playing at the moment this will be the hardest. Hit par for 18 holes. Past year I finally managed to hit par for 9 and have done it reasonably consistently (best was 2 under on the front, 1 under on the back), just can't get the damn full 18 holes.

Get back to the form I had in the earlier part of 2016. And like everyone else... lighter, fitter, stronger.
