Course is in great nic, surprisingly firm and dry with all the rain not long ago.
4iron dart from 165m from here for Waz. Result below.

Got violated on the 17th with a cracking drive left centre of fairway taking a huge kick left finishing in this.
Looks like you guys had a good afternoon. Probably had the best of the weather for the whole Champs!
Day one complete.
Hatch 37pts
Jimadnr 29pts
Wazamac 26pts
That might cost a few hcp points that I only just got back

Great day with even better company. Really happy with the way I struck the ball today but left myself in too many awkward positions to score .
Once you go yellow, you will never go back
Good company, great course, good weather and some good golf at times makes for a great day.
Thanks Waz and Jim.
what a load of rubbish. You were most unhappy with everything for much of the day. Even more so when you followed up your 4 point birdie with two wipes.
As for me, I thoroughly enjoyed the day. The weather was great, the company was excellent and the course was good.
My game wasn't so good though. I wasted lots of shots around and on the greens, and didn't get rewarded for the few really good ones. I hope this was the bad one, not the best round of the 5 days. Hatch only has an 8 shot lead in the Iron Man, and if he plays like he did today the trophy is his.
Thanks for the game guys.

Full of shit Jim. Yes I am hard on myself but their was a hell of a lot of expletives coming from the other side of the fairway as well.
Driving started out a little ordinary but through the day was the best I've been hitting it since January.
Iron play was a vast improvement on the crap I had been dishing out and was actually getting the ball in the air instead of worm burning everything.
My wedge play was very ordinary and after 9 the putting was certainly cold which meant tightening up even more over the last couple of holes.
Don't think the 3 wood will be coming out today, poor form over the last couple of games means it will be omitted till it learns it's lesson and apologises.

Good luck for today guys , hope it's a better weather up your way gonna be 42 today here
Have fun and hit em well
Hatch that time in the shed paying off ? been some good scores lately
I missed this yesterday.
They said the distributor in Aus was out and they are waiting for their order to come in and could ring me when they come come. I declined the offer and will just wait or take my chances if I get down they way again as that's not often.
Now they have the Hogan clubs in it might be best I don't go there often or I'll spent more than I really want to
Played quite a few games with Waz during this year and yesterday from a ball striking point was much better than I've seen. While it didn't translate into a good score better contact is the key to getting things headed in the right direction and a lot less frustration.
It could be just the cyclic form of golf but I like to think it's partially time in the shed and being able to see things on video have been a key. Ive made a small change that has resulted in much better ball striking when I get some where near where I want. its a work in progress trying to re-groove what's been poor for the last couple of years.
It feels good to compress the ball a bit again and good things/results tend to follow that.
