How much off the drop do you attribute to the playing lessons vs the technical lessons (if that makes sense)?

That would be awesome but not something I can directly control.I want to keep enjoying the game. I’ve just gone back playing the full set in preparation for the club champs but I’ll start half setting it and carrying again when it’s over.

I know what you mean, but it’s hard to give a percentage.I used to be (and still am to a certain degree) technical. The playing lessons have definitely helped me think around the golf course and allowed me to plot my way around even when I’m not hitting well and shoot a reasonable score. The playing lessons have also exposed some swing fault tendencies that didn’t show up as readily on the range. For example, my alignment was way off on the course, especially with the wedges but they were pretty good on the range. So we work on technique during playing lessons as well.My coach spends some time with me after the 9 hole playing lesson in a supervised practice session where we go trough a couple of things he feels I need to work on. He then sends me a summary email of things he noted during the playing lesson. The purely technique lessons have been very useful too but I feel my swing is now at a serviceable level and I’ll go back to these if I start having some persistent issues (eg hook or slice). Gone are the days when I was seeking that perfect swing. Doesn’t exist. As GG says, if I can get my swing to match up, I can play good golf.
