I'm out to 11.5 now, after being 6.1 within the last 20 rounds, but my anchor is based on 8.4. I'm now in the soft cap zone. The only time that I have played to a handicap in my golflink record was at the Vic Champs. How convenient....

Dropped a flag yesterday but it was one of the higher ones so only a 0.1 gain.
2 rounds time the second lowest comes off so should see a better gain worthy of how bad the short game is now.
Currently only have 2 single figure flags left in the 20.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
Pfffft.
My first comp game tomorrow since a year ago... My current handicap is at 10.1. I have a feeling I'll be joining this society of fine men.
I found a new trick for handicap maintenance today. I scored a 39, but signed for a 38, and got handicapped for a 38.
The gross score was marked as correct, and I think the club should have picked up on this, as it is their responsibility to record the stableford score (Rule 21.1b). If it was a club where cards were scanned, it would have got picked up, but at a country club with a physical card handed in, it got missed.
To quote a recent Seppo tweet
“No offense to good golfers, but I generally prefer to play with bad golfers because they have more fun and less requirements for what makes their round fun. Good people, good conversation, laughs, some booze, a day in nature. “
