OZgolf Punters Club - July 2016
OZgolf Punters Club Rules:
1. Currently, a once off payment of $55 (as of Jul 29, 2016) currently secures you a share in the club. This changes each round depending on the money in the kitty, and the number of punters.
2. A roster will be drawn up and posted so everyone knows in what order they will be betting.
3. We will be using a William Hill sporting bet account and everyone will have access to the login to see bets made, balance etc.
4. If you double the money that you have bet, then you can punt again the next week. i.e for a $30 outlay, minimum of $60 collect required to bet again.
5. If you win double the money, and go again, then bet that doubled amount next time. You will now need to win double the new amount to go again a third time. If you win twice, then it will reset to the original amount again for your third bet. For example, you bet $30 in the first round and win $60 or more. You will now bet $60 needing $120 to bet once again. If successful, the third betting round for you will be a $30 bet.
6. Winnings to be distributed only after everyone has punted. Alternatively, you can leave your money in for the next stage..
7. It is anticipated that bets will be a minimum of $30 and payouts for each bet should be at least $60. This will not however be strictly enforced, as to entice some of our exotic multi-bet punters in the ranks. (e.g having a $10 place bet on a horse @ 2.80, to win $28 is not encouraged.)
Round start: July 29, 2016
Starting balance for this round is : $1013
Betting amount: $55. ($110 needed to go again)

Done. No mucking around here.
I've gone back to a tennis multi, so hopefully there are no injuries to stuff it up.
All $55 on a 3-way multi at $2.02 for $111.26 return.
Leg 1: Caroline Wozniacki v Monica Niculescu: Caroline Wozniacki - Straight @ 1.33
I tend to avoid betting on women's tennis, but Wozniacki has been in really good form, winning 16 of her last 18 matches. She also has a 7 zip record over her opponent.
Leg 2: Gilles Simon vs Jan-Lennard Struff: Gilles Simon - Straight @ 1.30
This is the leg that I have the least confidence in. Simon used to be pretty reliable, but his ranking has now slipped out of the top 10 down to 25. Although his opponent is barely in the top 100, he has only just beaten him twice. He did knock off Wawrinka and Sock in the last tournament, so I'm hoping his form holds here.
Leg 3: David Goffin vs Florian Mayer: David Goffin - Straight @ 1.17
Mayer has a 2 nil record against Goffin, but that was 3 years ago. Goffin has made a final and quarter final in the last two weeks only losing to Kyrgios and Murray, and should not be troubled for this one.

No bets on Nick?
Surely there is a market on when he will get suspended next or similar.

Now that you mention it, there doesn't seem to be a rule for time limits on bets. Next time I'll multi Kyrgios to be number 1 by the end of 2020 into Hawks 4-peat for 2017-20.

Will you put the whole $110 from this week's bet on it, or just a portion?

I'm sure we can all agree to put whatever is left in the account on it.

I'd try and get consensus on putting the whole accouny on Winx, pretty close to an absolute moral

Simon lost, so I definitely regret that one.
Goffin has just broke back in the first set, so he isn't doing it easy either.
Lots of other upsets in tennis overnight too. I would have been better off betting on Gavrilova at about $2.40.

I had a tennis multi over night, bundling in 6 or 7 favorites, including Simon.
Harder to pick than a broken nose

I was on a good run with my multis, but the punters' club has a way of stopping that.

36ers up by 14 with 59 seconds to go. The punters club curse is lifted.

Yep. Was at the game. There was a bomb scare before - rumours were they were going to call the game off. Glad they didn't - the Taipans were very average

At 15-10 down, and scoring the now disallowed try, you would have got this bet up.That decision was a disgrace.
