i hope GOLF is the winner on the day

Grant, if you want a tip to put Pete off his game ... tell him he should get a new set of irons .... and that he doesn't appear to be hitting his driver very well

Well the day is here, the time has come. Beautiful winters morning here in Western Sydney, hopefully the wind won't come up like yesterday.

To Pete, may the best man win and OzGolf be the winner!

    GAME ON!

i suppose the burden of having to give you 17 shots or so was too much for the old fella 'eh Grant

16 actually, End result I played really well actually nailing a few big putts for hole wins including a 15-20 foot birdie putt (it was going to miss and hit a ballmark to send it into the hole).

Best rundown of the day might be given from one of the other guys in our group, either Jono or Pinglauncher.

Brief rundown as I saw it, which was generally from trees, water, sand or anywhere except the centre of the fairway.

The first hole was halved with a good birdie from Pete and a clutch par putt from Grant. For the remainder of the front nine Grant played exceptionally well to take a good lead to the half time break. The writing was on the wall though I think. Not too sure which hole it was but Grant had a lengthy putt of around 15 mtrs or so, that off the putter looked a loooong way past. It has hit a stone or pitch mark, put on the brakes and gone perfectly on line to fall in the front of the cup.

Pete, Jono and myself just stood there with jaws on the ground.

There was a brief comeback on the second nine from the big fella but he left his run just a little late.

Congrats to Grant and commiserations to Pete.

I will say the pin positions on the majority of the greens bordered on the ridiculous and we took about 3 hours to play the first nine holes. Not a good combination. I don't think any of the boys from today will be rushing back to play the course.

No ... but I wished I had my camera with me on the par 3 12th ... to take the shot of Pete running back to the tee to reload.

Well played, Grant. Bad luck, Pete. Pete was playing with a cold and drugged up on Codral, so I guess he has some excuse.

Grant won it 6 and 4 after having Pete dormied on the 13th tee with 6 to play. Pete had a mini-comeback that lasted one hole ... won the par 5 14th quite comfortably. Had a bit of a look-in on the 15th when Grant's second shot looked like it might roll back into the water, but it stayed up on top of the hill. Pete 3 jabbed to lose the hole and the match. Pete actually ended up "winning" the remaining 4 holes, so I guess it was a bit closer than what the score indicates ... Nah! I am just trying to make Pete feel better ... He got a royal thrashing from Grant today.

BTW, it might have helped Pete's cause if he was sledging his opponent instead of me and Pinglauncher. He threw a couple of beauties at Chris on the 15th tee and at me on the putting greens ...
