Fine by me!
Once you go yellow, you will never go back
Anymore ideas on what we are doing for the Kitchener Cup on Friday?
Once you go yellow, you will never go back
NOTE:- first tee-off time is now 1pm rather than the original 11.30am to accommodate a couple of players playing their home champs in the morning prior to playing the SA Champs in the afternoon.
Groups for TPGC, first tee off 1pm
1) Thecollective, Coalesce, Simsy
2) Hard_pan, Jim, Chilled
3) Hatchman, Jasonb, Marcel, Wazamac
My Grades matchplay quarterfinal is at 7.06am. I'm up against a bloke I've never beaten so I should be finished in plenty of time to make the 1.00pm tee-off at TPGC!
My suggestion:
- swap JasonB with Hard_Pan; (playing Kapunda together with Hatch and Waza - therefore takes the pressure off if they are running late as they can tee off later as a complete group if required)
- Marcel can join myself and Simsy in the lead group; that is of course if he would like to we will set a fast pace
Open to any alternate suggestions but I reckon the above works
I am happy to play in any of the early groups , dont care who with
Ok, a few things:
- Tee times have been finalised and everyone is in the comp bar Simsy who does not hold an active GL account; 1PM is the lead group. Waza / Hatch / HP: being that you in the tail group it should not be any drama if you arrive later than expected and tee off at a later time; you obviously will need to slot in somewhere but Tanunda is relatively quiet in comparison to other clubs so Phil will look after you.
- Location: in case you don't already know; Tanunda Pines is directly across the road from the Novotel Resort Barossa Valley; if you require more specific directions please let me know and I can assist you. Gomersal road off the highway is the fastest way to come from the South, there is a dirt road shortcut known as Golflinks Rd that can take you from Gomersal to the Novotel entrance
- Dress code; the club is pretty laid back in this area so I don't really need to say any more
- Change-rooms and showers are located in the main toilet block / hallway adjacent to bar area - the building is pretty small so should be easy enough to find
- Snakes; there are lots living on the course and will be out in numbers during hot periods; please be very careful scrounging around in the rough for your lost ball
- Water: there is limited supply of water on the course - please bring lots as conditions can become very dry when the sun comes out (hence why our red is so good!). There is a rain water tank adjacent to the 9th tee block located at the old shed - other than that you have no real other drinking water available; toilets can also be found at the back right of the shed. The course passes by the old shed again on the 13th hole (2nd shot) so you have an opportunity to fill up again from the same tank.
- Driving range: there is a good quality grass driving range located in the right hand corner of the entrance. Vouchers can be purchased from Phil in the proshop
Sadly I will need to dash around 5:30PM so I may not see all of you afterwards for a clubhouse drink. The Tanunda members are renowned for being extremely friendly so don't be surprised if you get someone sparking up a conversation with you.
Any questions or other last minute pikers please let me know
Thanks TC. Really looking forward to it.
Seems like everyone was out driving Chilled today.
Jimandr pumped one past on the 7th and his Long Drive on 9 was past by a lazy 30m with a heely cut.

Some quick thoughts on the Saturday game at Tanunda.
It was one of the most difficult days I can recall on a course and the weather tomorrow might be more of the same.
I have played in stronger wind many times, but not on a course that was so penalising on wayward shots.
For me it was a game to survive rather than enjoy. Fortunately Chilled and JasonB were both terrific company, putting up with my tantrums after yet more shots were thrown away around the greens. After we all reached the couldn't care less stage we had lots of fun in our quest to break the 20 point barrier.
Thanks guys.

Yeah agree Jim, the company made the day enjoyable We all had a hearty laugh at each others misfortunes. That was one hell of a day though, and one of the hardest I can remember for the last several years. I don't get days anywhere like that at my home course.
As you say, more of that tomorrow but somehow I feel the scores will improve, even if it is by only a small margin.
This is the only photo I got.
