Just watched Thor Ragnarok and I'm not sure what to think, basically a comedy and while entertaining I can see how the hardcore comic nerds would have got their panties in a bunch. Lots of plot development to add to the Thor storyline but a lot of it is treated as a bit of a joke, loved the scene in "New York" which was actually the corner of Mary and Albert sts in Brisbane. Weird movie.

Yeah, it was. I kinda had to switch off the expectation of the normal marvel movie mentality. I was also one who actually really enjoyed the other thor movies. The one thing that bugged me was Waititi's rock character - I think it got too much air time. But I can also see why it's the most successful of the thor movies. It did give you a bit of a break from the usual marvel fare though.

Straight Outta Compton on the box Saturday night i think it was, great flick.
Train to Busan - South Korea does the zombie apocalypse. They do it fantastically.
The Numbers Station - Ok but goes thru the motions a bit for me. Never quite got me in.

Finally caught Bladerunner 2049, loved it.
American Assassin was enjoyed as well even if there were obvious plot holes.

Scary movie night, Veronica on Netflix.
Hopefully it's half as scary as sharing a dorm room with forty beer farting golfers.

I flew to Adelaide and back on Wed/Thu.

I watched Battle of the Sexes on the way down, which was okay. Billie Jean King is portrayed as the good guy, while cheating on her husband with a woman. And Margaret Court was an easy target as a bad guy for parts, with what I'm sure is a bit of revisionist history. It annoyed me a little.

I watched Borg McEnroe on the way back, which is more about Borg than McEnroe, and I believe it was titled as just "Borg" in Europe. It was actually pretty good.

Fortunately, I didn't have time for the chick flick Wimbledon, which was also an option on the way back.

Watched the Shape of Water last night. Enjoyed it, bit whack. The Mrs and daughter watched Lady Bird in the arvo, they can't believe it's up for an Oscar. Mrs felt The Shape of Water was much much better. Just found lots of things in Lady Bird missed the mark.

And Jasmine just finished I, Tonya, and said it was far superior to Lady Bird. But she reckons Get Out is better than them all (not surprising since she's a horror fan). Wonder how the Oscars are going to go?

Agreed, loved the cinematography. Good story and seemed very authentic to the time period (not that I'd know either way).

Pretty sure I mentioned Godless in the TV Show thread.

Agree on Godless. It takes a while to get going, but it’s worth sticking with it.

That seems too on-topic for this forum.

Went and saw Game Night. Hadn't heard a lot about the movie beforehand and so didn't have any great expectations. It was enjoyable with some good laugh out loud moments.

Even better that it was a freebie put on by a local real estate agent. 😁

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.
