Default What did you shoot - February 2016

Shot 80 for 33pts at Cabramatta this morning. 41/39, hit 11 greens - a few more than usual for me. 11 pars were offset by three pretty gay doubles. Saw Peppas on the prowl on the 8th tee as I was on the 2nd green. Looked like he meant business - total game face.

Shot 33 pts at Cabo yesterday. M1 worked well on half a dozen holes, short game around greens was iffy. 29 putts. Career best 2 NTP prizes won, and Birdied both through the side door!!!!

My first game of the year, and I probably won't play in worse weather all year. A strong two club breeze and scudding showers most of the day, with a brief rain deluge that cost me two shots through trying to play speed golf to stay dry. My 32 points felt like a much better score, because every par felt like a major victory in the conditions.

Still, I quite enjoyed just being on the course again. There are plenty of worse places to be, even in the weather.

Had a round at Mollymook hilltop course as I was down that way for work. Picturesque course especially the back 9. Very hilly course and more doglegs then an open air southern chinese food market. Struggled a bit with the greens and trees. 28pts

86/72 at reddie bay back marker for a new low of 11.7

7 on the par 3 16th, two doubles both from middle of fairway, and three duffed chips kept me sleeping on the lounge instead of a dirty weekend at RACQ royal pines

    Actually enjoying the game again.

I play for value for money!

101/88, and while probably not my worst score ever, I'd say the worst I've hit the ball maybe ever. Even my irons eluded me today so I was screwed. 1fir, 1gir and 0 pars. In fact, I only hit the 1 green from outside 80mtrs all day, even if it was my 4th shot already. Started the day putting my first 2 shots into the water so probably wasn't setting myself up for anything good. But this was pretty abysmal. I now totally have no clue what is going wrong with my swing, but with my iron play running away and hiding I better keep enjoying the company on the course.......

    Medal round @ Kapunda

First outing with the Titliest 710 MB Shimada K Tour's. Again I found a set of blades not harsh to hit even with a number of miss hits. The Shimada K Tour's are a good match for the heads with smooth feel and a penetrating ball flight. Picked up 1/2 a club over my normal distances with this combo.

Spent the majority of the day hitting recovery shots as the driver was poor. Started very poorly and was 5 over after 5 with x2 doubles and a bogey lipping out 3 times from under 6 foot at the same time .
Standing on 18th I was 1 fairway, 1 GIR and one birdie (all same hole) and only 8 over. Stuffed the last hole for par after driving it through the green leaving only a 5m chip to the pin that was left short. Had my 3rd 2 putt for the back nine and the only one that missed the hole from 6 foot. Was trying like sh!t to have 100% record of GIR's and birdies but failed.

Used a Callaway Super Soft again for the second week. These seem to be a bit of an odd ball in that they don't back spin off the full blooded irons like I get with the ProV and TPX or check up up when chipping or pitching. The odd bit is chips and pitches seemed to land soft without the spin and check and not roll out like I'd expect them too.

    Stats
    81/74
    x2 Fairways
    x2 GIR
26 putts (14-12) no chip ins
    x1 birdies, x2 doubles, x1 3 jiggles

Oh, putted off the fringe once too, rest were genuine chips into the 6 foot circle of joy.

But a couple of lazy swings cost me big coming home and had to settle for 34 (79) around secret harbour

7 over off the beater in absolute crap weather at Penrith today.
First tee ball on our par 5 1st was a biggin' & I'm thinking go Jado we're on today big fella & then I block my 2nd shot into the piss & it's now NO Jado! I was playing well but 3 putt bogeyed 4 & 5 on our crappy slow arse greens, ballz!
Back nine I was hitting it pretty but it was one of those days where I was striping driver but couldn't take advantage of it. Highlight of the day was a lipped out eagle putt on the 17th, well it wasn't the highlight but the two balls to get there were beauties.
Pretty happy with 7 considering the weather & how many times we nearly pulled up stumps.

88/70 in today's medal round at carbrook, was windy and a bit drizzly, so pretty happy with the round. Score included 6 doubles, 4 of which I missed short putts for bogey. One birdie and another 2 good chances that were a roll short.

Driver mostly behaved and the vg3's I got off freddy are amazing. My putting which normally saves me let me down. I was joint c grade leader when I left so see what happens in an hour or so when everything is finalised.

Oh my friggin god I didn't come last! Someone off 36hc shot an 89net!! That might have been a long round!

On a sadder note, while I finally dropped a flagged round, I only dropped .1 out, and looking at my other 2008 rounds, it might take a while for it to make a big difference. In the mean time, I won't subject a 4bbb partner to my scoring!

    33 points today.
15 on the front, with 1 wipe. nothing went right for me on the front
18 on the back, was 16 through 6 holes, then wipe, wipe cost me
putted well, short game was good, driver didnt work for me until the 11th hole.
all in all, some positive signs, and another .3 off the handicap.

82/72 in today's medal round at NH. Played pretty solidly (34 points 16/18 ), despite some iffy drives and approach shots. This was mainly due to my putting which appears to have improved virtually overnight (30putts). Main issues were a brain fade 6 on the par 3 8th and an 8 after losing a ball whilst cutting the corner on the par 5 15th.

Back at Meadow Springs Yesterday. Not a great round, but not a bad one either. Ended up with 89, nothing better than par and a few lost balls. A few positives to take away though and keen to get out again.
