Default How good is Jordan Spieth!?!?

Yes its exclamation marks and question marks.
To be honest I didn't think much of him as a player initially. His swing isn't classic or really aesthetically pretty, but it works well and he seems to know HIS swing well. And short game, tiger of old at least.... Phenomenal.
Never thought much of his personality either but he's growing on me and I fear I may of misjudged him.

Very interested to see how his career plays out. Probably more so than anyone else.

    Thoughts???

He hits it where he wants it , Sneaky long ,His short game is just ridiculous and he is a lot harder than Jday and Rory he will end up as good as Jack and Tiger because he wants to be

He's already better than Patrick Reed and Ian Poulter.

He doesn't have a great personality but so many pros don't. Neither would you if you had to spend your whole life practicing.

    He's just a golfing robot.

We keep hoping for another Palmer, Player and Nicklaus.

After Jack's last major, Ballesteros and Watson were already on the decline. Norman kept tripping on the last hurdle. Faldo came, disappeared, then came again with a dose of vitriol for the media. Els had some success, but hardly convincing. There was a fanfare for Mickelson, but he took 10 years to win a Major. Daly loved to self-destruct off the course. Vijay won 3 majors, and his nickname was 'The Lone Ranger'. Tiger got the results, but distanced himself from the public. Garcia failed to live up to expectation. Ditto show pony Poulter.

Rory has always seemed to have the right stuff, same with Speith and now with JDay finally finding his game-legs, I hope this is new triumvirate.

As mentioned in the other thread, it looks like those three (and especially the younger Speith) have taken note of the mistakes of their predecessors.

I watch the odd golf game for entertainment... He isn't entertaining.

The technical side bores me nowadays anyway. The last thing I would do is watch golf for technical reasons. I like watching the shot making of players and Jordan hits the same shot day in and day out.

His short game is awesome to watch though... But we don't see much of that.

He is just boring... Everything he does is boring. He is also slow which adds to the tedium.

And with the NFL playoffs going on at the same time... Golf is not really a viable entertainment option.

Not sure how boring in terms of golf is defined, seems to me it's generally some assumptions about the personality of the participant.

I am not bored with Jordon Spieth (i before e, Virge) albeit the incessant chatter pre and post shot is a little grinding. Perhaps some of the "boredom" people perceive is because the kid is so polished at an early age, I would agree with Dotty, he has seen the foibles of those before and has a different way of going. Geez, give the kid a break.

Post Tiger the potential for a vacuum was huge, all the US eggs in the Phil basket. Now we have the emergence of JDay as a genuine superstar, Rory. Spieth and Brooks Koepka will win plenty.

Lots to look forward to for me and I am generally a hard marker.

He's good enough to have won 7 tournaments including 2 Majors at 22 years old. His long game is an extension of his short game which allows for consistency. Probably the most consistent putter since Tiger when he was at his peak.

Luke Donald had a great putting season when he made it to No 1 in the World - 94% of putts made for the season inside 10 feet.

Consciousness and awareness - awareness is being aware of what is happening and being aware of what is happening within ourselves while we are conscious. Where did I leave my glasses?

Jordan Speith is an amazing golfer. His golf is not flashy but it gets the job done. He is an excellent putter. He will win a lot of Tourny's.

    Still find him incredibly boring.

I think he's the best, in fact I might start using Titleist and Scotty Cameron's again.

He's shown more enthusiasm for playing in Australia recently than Jason Day.
    Forum needs more banter.

Seems like a good bloke too. Plays boring golf maybe, but has the mental game to match it which to me is bloody amazing

In fact I thought Keopka was boring.
He was chasing and on the short holes he was playing safe and Spieth was hitting drivers etc.
    I'd hardly call Spieth boring.
His short game and putting is outstanding.

Interesting to see the 2 guys who played with him on the weekend , Kisner and Keopka had very poor rounds that really reminds me of Tiger
