This is the best post this year in my opinion.

. . . and it even has Jordon Speith's name in it.

    I'm glad Benno_R wasn't around in Aesop's time.

Otherwise we'd only have the fable about 'The Hare'.

Shows how much you know. She has to sit next to me. Her and I on one side of the table, the complainant and her representative on the other. They're the rules.

This thread is getting hilarious/exciting/not boring . One might say it's become very anti-Spieth.

No excitement. Having thought about it I don't remember much at all about last years Masters and I watch almost all of it. Probably because Jordan won by 4 and the only shots I can remember about last years final round of UsOpen was DJ's 3putt, Cam Smiths 2nd into 18 and Grace putting his ball OB on 16 or 17 and blowing it.
Tough crowd if this wasnt memorable....

He hit some incredible shots at the masters also.

It's weird that when a US Open that ends in a relatively high score occurs it is boring.

But when a guy demolishes a course and has 30 under par for the tournament occurs, that is also boring.

Perhaps golf on TV is just boring in general?

Comparing his play to any shot that Woods has hit that is memorable is unfair. Woods has had the best part of 2 decades to create memories. Speith has had 3 years?

I like seeing him demolish fields. I like the fact he hits it so pure he doesn't have to pull off lucky shots like a snap hook wedge around trees to win events. He'll get his shots that hang over the lip giving whatever ball brand he is playing billions of dollars in free publicity.

Your arguments don't change my belief that you are wrong.

And that is the two extremes of the way the USPGA sets its courses up the fact that Jordan can win on both says something but honestly what do they think they are trying to prove the way they set up the open courses almost guarantees someone like Jordan will win it , the US open is boring because bombers are out of the game and it also highlights DJs mental strength that he couldn't beat a 20 year old

Good shot but shows how memorable it was to me that I couldn't recall it.

Apart from the last one, I love watching US Opens. Love the golf courses they play them on but I do agree the set up tends to be a bit penal sometimes.

So you wouldn't consider DJ a bomber? He went close and was def in the game. I'm not sure the bombers are out of it as some are quite accurate and they can also go shorter clubs off the tee for control and still be pushing the drives of some players. I see Day and Scott were 3rd and 4th in the top 10 PGA longest drivers list. Day is a chance in any US Open and if Scott could putt he might be too.

My favourite players to watch at the moment:

    Bubba
    Rory
    Adam Scott
    Phil
    Spieth

So yes, he's only about 5th for me, but I find him still more entertaining than watching (in no particular order) Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Zach Johnson, Stenson, Fowler, Patrick Reed, etc. etc.

    He's definitely not boring.

I'm rewatching the final round of HTOC and just heard Spieth refer to his caddie as "dude". FWIW he gets a couple of brownie points from me for that.

That Spieth shot's got nothing on Cam Smith's second shot into the same green on the same day. Nearly holed it. Cheeky tap-in eagle in front of the packed grandstand for the young Queenslander.

He is definitely the "putt for dough" poster boy:
    • Driving distance — 283.7 (17)
    • Fairways hit — 44/60 — 73.3% (T12)
    • Greens hit — 60/72 — 83.3% (T11)
    • Approach shot proximity — 34’11” (3)
    • Sand saves 1/1 100.0% (T1)
    • Putts made distance — 368’0″ (1)
    • Strokes Gained: Tee-to-green — 2.391 (1)
    • Strokes Gained: Putting — 1.914 (1)
    • Strokes Gained: Total — 4.305 (1)
The 10 guys who hit more greens certainly wished they could roll it like him.
