Default What have you built or had built for golf 2016

Thought I'd kick this off for this year. Finally got around to building some clubs. Got some Super Peening Orange into my Tourstage x blade 709MC today. Need to extend them a little and pop some grips on but will post pics when complete. I think they'll be nice.

I liked the look of the tourstage irons. The shafts were just not suited to you. SPO's should work well.

I myself want to build up the VIP's with some stiff shafts. Hit them today at the range and i liked them

Look forward to seeing some more pics when you've got them all sorted Matt.

Holidays and a rainy day = time to tinker.

Popped the old shaft back into an X-Hot hybrid for reselling.
Replaced a Rogue Black 85 with a tour issue PX in a AB TP hybrid.
Popped original shaft back into a CB ProH 3 driving iron.
Regripped a Vokey S grind 54.11 to see if it can match the Vokey M grind and Cally Tour Grind.
    Reshafted an XCG7 Beta hybrid.
Popped an SPO into a CF 2.0 7 iron for trialling.

Big drop off's expected later this week so more tinkering to come.

Put the Fuji MCI graphites back into my i25 irons when the CFS experiment didn't work out.

Someone had to take the blame for my poor iron play and the CFS shafts were the obvious choice.

Put some G30 tips on a few shafts for a play:
    Black Tie 7M3 x
    Rogue Silver 60x
    Speeder 565x

Interested to see how they go.

Also put some red ferrules on a set of irons to match the grips. Look nice

A question for TNO are blueboards , redboards, whiteboards and blackboards as good as they say and what is the difference between the real deals and the OME ones?

Welcome to the site, just read your introduction post.

They are great shafts, absolutely. The first models are still very relevant when they fit and between 3 models and umpteen weights there is something in there for everyone. Have not hit the Blackboard but some swear by them. Rare and expensive and i personally wouldn't be forking out for them.

When i am at home tomorrow i will PM some facts per the originals and the two separate OEM models.

Just finished putting some extenders in the vintage Titleist Tour Model blades for an experiment.
    Now playing 1 1/4" longer than my 712 AP2's.

    6 iron was D2 now E1 @ 38 7/8"
4 papers under std Titleist grips.

Think I may have gone a bit too long with the extension. Going to try and lop 1/2' off before Sunday.

    Hi guys
Have been posting in The Academy thread about my taking the step to start playing golf (beginner with intermittent rounds over the years but @ 42 finally making a determined effort to give this game a good crack). Got fitted last week @ MGA Moorabbin and picked up my golf clubs today. So this is what I have been equipped with:

Titleist 915 Driver 12 degree loft
Titleist 915 F with 7 on the club head (does this refer to the loft?)
Titleist 816 Hybrid with 27 on the club head

    Titleist 716 AP1 irons 6/7/8/9/P/W AND also a W with 52 on it (again I'm guessing loft?)

Titleist BV S GRIND 56/60 loft wedges?

    Titleist Surefit Tour Wrench

Had to drive in pouring rain to collect clubs from MGA since I live inner north and got back and had a look and a bit disappointed/confused at lack of sales for

    putter/bag

So, I'm guessing I'm going to have to head to the golf shop locally somewhere to get a decent putter and bag to fit clubs (any ideas guys?)

Was deadset keen to go to the driving range and smash a few balls but common sense prevailed and came home and did the washing and tidying up

    Cheers

You've been fitted with some good gear there. With that sort of outlay I'm surprised they didn't get you into a Ping copy putter and Titty bag as well

Yeah Hatchman. I used to work in sales so definitely expected to be sold a putter & bag to complete the set. Lost opportunity but will get out on a green at a golf course and try out a few putters and then go from there..

Really nice bag mate. The F stands for fairway or fairway wood. It's a 7 wood and the loft will be about 21°. You're correct with the 52, 56, 60 being the loft on your wedges. The 27 on the hybrid is also the loft. That's probably a 6 hybrid but may be a 5.

As for a putter, best bet is to go to a couple of golf shops and try a bunch of them. They'll have a tiny green where you can try them. Once you find one you like, make note of the details (make, model, length) then get online and find one of those new or used for less money. Buy cheap and change often.

Either that or I expect MGI would be able to fit you into a putter if you're happy to pay.

@3puttpete yeah happy to try out a few putters and then go from there. Why do you suggest to change putters often? If I find something that is good and I'm putting well shouldn't I stick with it? Cheers
