Don't need grades just need low markers who don't shank and tank.

My game resembled that although the shanks didn't occur until the last day.

Having said that, November does seem to be the best month to play here in terms of course conditions - if we go later in the year it will be dryer and hotter, and also starts to clash with Christmas/New Year and then Vic Champs. If we go earlier, the courses won't be in as good a condition which will be noticeable on the non-Tier 1s
I think WA will be looking to move to a more autumnish timeslot.

RA was special as always, and thoroughly enjoyed my rounds at Sandy Creek, Victor Harbour, and Kooyonga. Tanunda and Glenelg certainly exceeded expectations for me, 2 great days there.
Negative Feedback:
Prefer a true seeded draw on the last day
Travel distance
Courses with too many trees
Too many damn flies
Overall, not too much to complain about. While not really a criticism, having RA on the Sunday every year, I worry it might become "stale".
What are the thoughts of others, both local and interstaters, on the above comment regarding RAGC being kept as a regular venue on the Sunday!?
From the point of view here as organisers we thought it was what you guys, especially from Interstate, would like/prefer, playing one of the best rated courses in the State/country, is this NOT the case?!
Us locally based players can play there anytime as we know the 'right' people
So would you prefer the Sunday venue was alternated? Very interested to get your views/input on this............... !?

I'm in a number of minds about this.
Is RA part of the attraction? Absolutely but it's not a deal breaker.
Would it be nice to play different courses? Yes but is this reason enough to skip such a magnificent golf course?
After QLD Champs I'm a big fan of the idea of staying on course even if it means playing the same course twice but some (even me) may see this as a lost opportunity to play somewhere different.
Champs is about the people. Ultimately, the courses don't determine my attendance. Time and money make that decision for me.

I love playing at RA and am quite happy to play there every year. I guess the question is where else would be able to get 20 to 30 people on a tier 1 course on a Sunday anyway ?

When you say staying on course, what do you mean? Having somewhere where the accommodation is at/near the course? Does the Links Hotel satisfy this for RA? There aren't any courses with hotel complexes in or around the CBD in Adelaide that I know of

Yeh nothing in Adelaide Metro.
S.A options for on course are:
Tanunda
Links Lady Bay
McCracken
Clare
Barmera
Renmark
There are other courses that are close to Barmera and Renmark with Berri, Loxton and even Waikerie only 30min from Barmera and 45min from Renmark.
Tanunda has Barrosa Valley 10-15mins away and a bit further out Mount Pleasant and Kapunda around 30mins away.
McCracken has Victor Harbour within 5mins and South Lakes roughly 20mins. Links Lady Bay is only 30-40mins from there also.
Clare is the only one that has nothing close. Next closest greens course is an old home club of mine Balaklava roughly 40mins away but is in middle of bumf**k nowhere.
Some may notice I've left Wirrina out as a play and stay option. There's a good reason for that, it's sh!t for accommodation and course.

Does it have to be in the CBD? We could easily take people up to the Riverland for 2 nights, 3 rounds.

Resort type stuff. Hotel/course.
Maybe it was just that everybody was in the same place.

I can get there just as quick as it takes me to get to Victor Harbour. 2hrs 15-20mins to Renmark as the minister and I do that trip several times a year just for dinner at our favourite eatery.

Your right Waz, the Riverland would be a great option one year maybe or a good weekend away for us S.A guys some other time of the year as a recon trip

IMO you would be mad to give up ANY opportunity to play RA during champs. I cannot see how anyone could grow stale of this course, I have played it about 15 times and get something different out of it everytime
But as the name suggests - its about the collective opinion; not just mine

Don't get me wrong lads, I am not saying I won't come if RA is on the list. I know from other interests I have, we ended up passing on interstate trips because locations were never mixed up.
Some people like a bit of variety. Personally, playing courses I haven't played before is a massive incentive for me.
Just food for thought.

I fully get what your saying Benno and is something we need to be mindful of.
I like you, enjoy playing courses I've never played before.
I think I can safely speak for my SA organising brothers in that the intention so far has been to include different courses in the mix around the Royal Adelaide game to avoid the pitfalls of being stale. Being able to get onto Royal Adelaide is one of the big attractions to get other fellow OzGolfers over for the SA Champs.
At some point down the track we will run out of other new courses around that to play.
