Default Uncivil War IV - Friday 5th Feb 2016, The Metropolitan Golf Club

Making this thread and reserving this post to enter official details once we get a bit closer to the event.

For the record, the Confederates are currently winning the war, with the score at 2 battles to 1. This year looms large as the Union would hate to go 2 battles down again, where as the Confeds would be loathe to let all their hard work over the first 2 years to go to waste.

Yes maybe "Rock - Paper - Scissors" as to who takes the first drink. then maybe game over after the first drink and we retire to the comfort of the club house

I will have to confirm with the Captain, but i am safe to say their will be no Midstrength left from the previous night.
Why exactly do I need to answer to you?

Hope all works out well for your wife. While none of us would put a game of golf over our spouse's health (well almost none of us ), I hope you can still make it.

Golf is, in part, a game; but only in part. It is also in part a religion, a fever, a vice, a mirage, a frenzy, a fear, an abscess, a joy, a thrill, a pest, a disease, an uplift, a brooding, a melancholy, a dream of yesterday and a hope for tomorrow. - New York Tribune, 1916.

Good luck to the bride - hope she makes a full recovery.

I had something similar yesterday - I was told I need day surgery, and they told me 5th of Feb.
    I delayed it two weeks...

Do we start the team scores at zero all or is it going to be handicapped to keep it interesting?

****, for the umpteenth time, whoever has the highest stable ford point on the hole wins it!
Write it down, add them up at the end.
If I hear you go on about it one more time I'm wrapping a spare 3 iron round your head.....

    Once more for Pepps.

There are two events being held on the day. A single stableford, and using the scores from the Single Stableford, The Uncivil War IV.

The single stableford will see an individual trophy presented at the end of the day. This is actually a minor detail on the day (not taking away the glory from previous winners though).

The real competition is THE UNCIVIL WAR IV

The Uncivil War IV is matchplay - both individual, and 4BBB.

Each player has an opponent. That was the draw conducted by Benno_R and I the other day. This match is worth 1 point.
Each player has a partner. You and your partner are taking on your opponent, and his partner in a 4BBB Matchplay. This match is also worth 1 point.
There is also a mystery Fireball - each team captain will pick one person from the opposition for a 'phantom' matchplay. Nobody will know who the mystery player is until the completion of the matches. This is worth 1 point.

The Uncivil War will be decided by the team that has the most points overall.

    So in summary.
Mark your opponents card so you can keep track of your individual match score.
Get a responsible adult in your group to keep track of the 4BBB score.
Go and play golf and have a good time.
Drink beer and laugh about it afterwards.

    Got it?
