Maybe you guys could be so kind to let us know right here.
So how do you get the gradient of a 20' putt?
Do you walk all the way down your line remembering each little nuance?
Or do you read it at one spot?

I don't know.
I read the green.
I start reading it from about 30m off the green and look at everything around it.
It's not a labour intensive process. I look at the line I see the line I putt to the line.

I think it all goes back to the last guy that Simmsy had a lesson from. You wouldn't believe anything that a pro told you after listening to that guy.
I am curious about this system, especially after a few of the reads that I made this past weekend.

A 20' putt would be the biggest slope in the middle third of the putt. I normally check the slope just past the hole to make sure it is consistent - I haven't seen this mentioned in any of the theory.
I struggle to read greens with my eyes - I see most putts as right to left unless the slope is obvious (I don't know why!).

I was told but that method too, it just doesn't work for me.
I would say I'm a decent putter, but I don't read greens well. I've recently learnt to plum bob, but that is a little hit and miss, so I'm hoping this will help me sink or 2 extra per round. If not then it's not different to buying a putter that doesn't work.

Express is different to midpoint. But that's really all I do most of the time. I too start reading from 30m odd out but once I'm there it's pretty quick. I've gone between traditional eyes and Aimpoint recently and AE wins every time. The time consuming part is teaching yourself what 1% 2% 3% is. I use an app called Clinometer to help me identify what the slope is.
https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/clin...286215117?mt=8
Once you get used to the feeling it's simple and pretty accurate, the important thing is getting the speed right and with express you can allow more or less break depending on what speed you want to hit the putt. You still need to hit it where you want at the right speed to hole it but now I've got more trust in my read.

My second week using this and had 28putts with 2x3 putts.
Greens were slick and my 3 putts were pace related one tentative 30footer uphill and one to agressive 15footer downhill left too much work to do. Overall though my putting was phenomenal compared to what it has been.
I am finding if I know which way the putt is going to break with my eye than I am pretty accurate with the amount of break using AP Express. However if I am not sure with my eyes which way the putt is breaking than I am only a 50/50 chance of getting the break direction right.
Only early days but loving it so far!

Can Aimpoint help with the fact my course has 18 greens that run at about 8 different speeds ?

If you can already read break well I would say no need for Aimpoint. For me it has just been another piece of the puzzle. Pace is another piece of the puzzle.

Pace is normally a strong suit. Break is what gets me.

Today I had a 25 footer uphill and across the break. Using this system I estimated about 10ft left of hole starting line. Previously I would of gone 4ft max on this. I hit the put and it finished 6in under hole. Pace was very good but even I hit the same pace putt on the 4ft break line it would of finished off the green. Because once the ball got about 3ft below the hole the slope was severe.
I made a lot of good 2putts today. My 2x3putts were both pace related right line either to tentative or to aggressive but line was good if I could hit the pace right.
This system is not the be all and end all but definately is better than what I was doing previously. Aiming high side somewhere
