Default Vic Champs Sunday morning bacon and egg rolls. Who wants one?

OK, it's on. I'll be getting up early to throw together some dodgy bacon and egg rolls on the BayPlay BBQ to fuel us up for the march around Cape Schanck. I can't promise anything gourmet, but there will be bacon, there will be eggs, there will be tomato sauce, and there will be buns (not as impressive as Bruce's buns of course, but probably a similar shade of white). What more could you ask for?

$5 each should cover it, proceeds to Beyond Blue or whoever the charity of choice is for the champs this year. I'm guessing I'll probably have to order the goodies from the local supermarket to avoid disappointment, so I'll take orders in the thread and call them up.

    Who wants one? Or two?

I've given the AFP at Tullarmarine the heads-up.

Hopefully, their cavity search will also remove the dead possum.

Here's hoping. I am surprised it wasn't removed when he came back into the country from LA or one of his other overseas jaunts.

Larry, there's 2 ovens with a total of 8 burners apparently, not sure they'll be any good, but there's a big BBQ in the backyard to cook these bad boys.

Thanks Lefty! Looks like I could even bake the rolls if I wanted to.

I'm not going to, but it's nice to know that the facilities are available.

I spoke to the supermarket people earlier today and I need to pre-order stuff tomorrow afternoon. If anybody is undecided, now is the time to choose, and choose bacon.

Chorizos were taken off the menu by popular demand when Grunt's name appeared on the sign-up sheet

Guys, this order is now huge. Oldracer has volunteered (thanks Al!) to help out Larry (big thanks Larry!) but they may need some more assistance as there's over 50 now being produced. If anyone is willing to assist in any way please speak to LarryLong to see if you can do anything to help him out. Even if it's cleaning up after the cook-up while Larry eats. Every bit of help is greatly appreciated.

Well done Larry, who even managed to buy some wedges during the auction while prepping the bacon. And well done to NK and oldracer on the cooking. Fantastic job guys.

All I can say is I hope your family likes bacon because with the amount of leftovers I reckon you'll be eating it for a while!

Thankyou so much for all your effort Larry, as well as oldracer, Ned and everyone else that helped with the cooking and cleanup.. It really hit the spot on a bleary eyed cold Sunday morning.

Yep, it was well worth the effort. Massive thanks to Ned and oldracer who stepped in without needing to be asked, got up early and did an incredible job on the BBQ. I don't think they burned a single rasher. Also thanks to DCanto for handling the kesh. It was obvious that it wasn't the first paper bag full of money he has taken care of.

When the smoke cleared we were left with and a huge pile of leftover bacon and a few bags of rolls - I guess not everybody was man enough for the two-roll challenge. I rang around frantically and found a number for a lovely old lady in Tootgarook who accepts food for the needy. She greeted me on the doorstep in her dressing gown and told me she would make sure it went to good use, so that was a good ending to the story.

Better still, we ended up turning a profit of about $50 for charity. Big thanks to those of you who paid for two despite only managing one roll - with the big pile of leftovers I thought I might be caught short and be left with nothing to show for the tin. Just another example of the fantastic spirit at these events.

Well, I cocked up here. I certainly didn't attempt the 2nd roll, OR pay the kesh. $10er into the tin from me.
