I'm currently in the market for a LM. I've been following closely the reviews and feedback on the MLM2pro and my consensus is that it's just not worth the potential pain. Way too many issues with connectivity, drop outs/misreads that don't seem to be getting better with updates. Has anyone had any other experience with this unit? Not that I'll likely be swayed that way now.

I've been getting hung up on side spin as a valuable metric hence my interest in the MLM2pro which seems to do well here and my hesitance of looking at 'lesser' LM options that don't have the level of accuracy for this metric such the swing caddie SC4.

However lately I've come around to the fact that I think I'd prefer a unit that just works well, has 90% of the features and doesn't have the headaches of the MLM2pro. I'd still get a lot of value in a sub $1k unit (like the sc4) in terms of carry, club and ball speed, backspin, connection to simulation software etc.

I really don't want to spend Skytrack+ money on a LM but I might be able to stretch for an original skytrack unit second hand.

Any thoughts on these 2 options? Further pros or cons I haven't mentioned?
    1. Skytrack (original) second hand ~ $1.5k
    2. Swing caddie sc4 $850-950 new.

I've got an R10 and enjoy it. It gives me what I need, and hasn't had issues with misreads.

It can go from basic 'awesome golf' which gives you all the metrics (all be it calculated and not measured) right through to GSPro simulation.

    Just another option

SkyTrak (original) is really good for the money.

Yeah, I feel like this is the one I definitely wouldn't regret buying.

I've got one too and a nice bonus is a free Windows App called R10 Analytics built by an R10 user which allows you to better display and analyze the data you can export from the Garmin app on your phone etc.

I recently got the R10. Chose that over the MLM as I didn’t want to pay the subscription costs.

Still have my Mevo (non-plus). Works great but I like the concept of simulator golf.

3700. I know there are a bunch of new LMs out, but I think that's still pretty cheap. GC2 is better than skytrack/mevo IMO.

There's another GC2 up in Adelaide for $5k on Facebook today.

I ended up buying an R10. Just seems like the best affordable device for my outdoor net and good support of apps etc. I have about 15 feet to the back of the practice cage so hopefully get half decent data from it. Also given all of my use will be outdoors I didn't go down the Skytrak route.

What software are people using for the R10 specifically? I've enjoyed awesome golf so far in the first week, particularly the coaching section but keen to try the sim courses soon and very interested in GSPro.

Awesome golf is the way to go for range on iPad etc

GSPro is the way to go if you went into a gaming PC.

The new monthly subscription is great for awesome golf.

GSPro is cheap BUT the investment into a gaming PC to run it is a decent amount
    .

Depends if you're keen to practice on a range or play Sim golf

E6 is decent for R10. Playing Sim golf is fun and great practice but I like awesome golf for working on different feels and face control etc

Thanks Matty. I have a half decent gaming PC already so should be able to run GSPro at 1080p. I think I'll just keep a monthly going for Awesome golf as I'm keen to do more range work as well as sims. Once I get bored of sims on Awesome golf I'll get GSPro.

Awesome Golf seems to be the one I use the most. I like that there is an IPad interface.
I have a laptop that can handle GS Pro but portability could be cumbersome.

I have used the Garmin app Vines course while playing at the same time and it was quite accurate most of the time.

Yeah it's $350 for a lifetime membership or around $22 a month for a month by month membership last I checked.

Depends what you're after I guess. I think camera-based systems (GC3/Quad, SkyTrak) are better for indoor use, radar (Trackman, Full Swing, Mevo) are probably better for outdoors.
