It seems quite possible Garmin have rushed the r10 onto the market somewhat given the current climate. For the price it seems good though, I’ll hold off to see what bugs and glitches appear. The bushnell will be interesting seeming to be a revamped gc2

I saw this mentioned in the Golfbox review but I'm not sure what the basis for the comment is. What makes you think it's rushed?

I agree, Its the vibe. I cant remember why I think that. Could be all the other reviewers are saying it too. There is a lengthy disussion thread on one of the other big forums.

Given all the AI is run on the smartphone its easy for them to bring it to the market early and update it a lot later.

FYI the Apple development announced at WWDC 21 called CoreML provides for insane levels of AI power on the device ( Latest Silicon cpu). The built in modules include 3D modelling and object tracking from video. The golf specific applications that could be built on this will be really good. I went to a developers briefing in Brisbane (free pizza) and there is very excited chatter in that crowd about this stuff partivular how easy it will be to create apps. If you are an apple tragic that always gets the latest phone, i would definitely wait. ( i dont use apple phones)

If you want a LM with enough features to help improve, including acurate data like launch angle, spin and ball direction, from what I have read the Skytrack would be the minimum wouldn't it?, especially if it is for indoor or net use a camera system would be the way to go, if you just want club speed I'm sure you could find a cheaper option that should be OK.

Is this going to be camera based or radar? Any idea on price point? I think the R10 is a great step in the right direction but sounds like the spin axis, path info isn't accurate at all. The appeal for me in buying a launch monitor is to use it to fine tune things like AOA, launch, spin and checking swing path. As a consumer I want something with 80% of the accuracy of a GC quad for about $1k which is obviously not realistic however the market will eventually produce such a product I'm pretty sure.

Pretty sure it is going to be camera based as Foresight are involved.

For what you want only something like a GC Quad is going to give you that with any accuracy, I am pretty sure even trackman struggles to provide accurate club data, and can struggle indoors and requires a lot of space behind and in front of the ball to get good readings.

I think there is a reason the GC Quad is the gold standard in LMs as it provides real ball and club data and is not guessing like radar system LMs

I’m just suggesting it may be rushed as I have read as much in a few places. Nothing by any means concrete. I’ll not part with cash until the bushnel is out to compare.

Foresight are not likely to undercut their quad either so surely this will have plenty of limitations.I'll definitely be waiting and watching how it plays out. We might only be one generation away from some good affordable LMs

The site has been updated with some more info, my guess is it will be similar to a GC2 and won’t do club head data like the GC Quad, not sure what they are doing with the 3 third camera.

Received an email from Bushnell for pre order, $2999 and I’m pretty sure it’s USD so over $4000 Australian. Plus pay yearly sub for FSX after that.

It's a step in the right direction vs GC quad but agree falls short of affordable for most golfers.

yeah still too exxy for most i would think, but hope this will bring other players into the camera market. Doppler doesn't seem as though it will get the job done with its limitations.

The Bushnell looks good but you can't do anything without a subscription and that excludes a lot of basic features like back spin and side spin, which you have to go to the top tier to get, and that is $799 US per year.
I am really getting annoyed by these subscription based devices, my biggest issue with this one is you have no access to the full features at all for free or even on the basic sub option, there should at least be an option to access all the features in a basic driving range or something.
In 4 years on the top tier sub they will have gotten more out of you than the cost of the device.

Doesn't Skytrack come with a full driving range included? And the extra subs give you more courses?

I believe you get the basic driving range for free, yes. The subscription gets you additional features in the range (wedge matrix, challenges, etc.), and the ability to play real courses with software like TGC.

Yep, to be usable for anything other than absolute basics you need the subscription. Only approx $100 per year so pretty minimal.

Skytrack - 3 sub levels, on free sub it includes the driving range with all data, level 2 adds all extra features with limited WGT for $99 US per year, level 3 adds full WGT Support for $199 US per, that is perfectly reasonable.

The Bushnell has no free option, you get the basic sub for 1 year and gold for 30 days.
See the sub options below. A bit if a joke if you ask me.

    https://www.foresightsports.com/gc3
Looks the same as the Bushnell but even more expensive at $6995 US
But looks like it includes the full FSX software packages with 10 courses and no mention of subs.
So after 5 years the GC3 will start being cheaper.
