    Default Extra Warm Up Rounds - Barnbougle 3 & 4 Feb

    Ok

    Nudgee Daves NK & Myself are going to do a snappy warm up at Barny before the Vic Champs.

    From Bris it is only a few extra $ to get to Vic and lets face it when you are that close you should take the option.

    We have at least one extra Ploppy Pat who has returned to golf after deciding he is too old for the nubile ones in volley ball.

    We are flying into Launceston on the Monday afternoon, driving up and staying at Lost Farm then playing LF (all day Tuesday) then Barny (36 holes) on Wednesday before a leisurely flight to Melbourne on Thursday morning where the adventurious will play Thursday afternoon.

    So who else is keen.

    Our accommodation and golf is booked so you need to consider these arrangements:
    Tuesday 0730 and 1330hr and same Wedneday are our tee bookings, accommodation is at LF and is $225 twin share queen room. Golf was $140 each day. Arrive 2/2 depart 5/2/

    Who is in to make up either 2 groups? The extra tee time will need to get booked soon to sort it out.
    Cheers
    Craig

    You QLDers can't handle this pristine Tassie weather.....

    Though I expect it's a little chilly outside in the wind up there!

    The tees were forward and not a breath of wind in the AM round.

    The PM round tells the real story.

    A few photos;

    The view from the Lost Farm Restaurant on the first evening;

    The view from our rooms. Hard to believe there is a very wide golf hole between those last 2 lines of dunes;

    The view from the Lost Farm Cafe/Restaurant;

    This inlet runs beside The Dunes course. It is pretty small here, but is actually the upper reaches of the Great Forester River that enters the sea at Bridport.

    The view as you walk to the Dunes 5th hole, Bridport in the distance;

    Pretty sure this was an Albatross;

    Some of the Dunes;

    Awesome pics Dave - I really need to get myself back to Tassie soon, and not just to play golf.

    I reckon the bird is an oystercatcher though. http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/spec...us-fuliginosus

    The pictures are great Dave and bring back lots of memories of my one and only trip to the Dunes and Lost Farm.
    Just looking at them again makes me realise that it is good that the complex is on the far north coast of Tassie as if they were on the mainland they would be ruined by the volumes of people wanting to play them!
    For those that have never played them, it really is a bucket list item.

    Thanks Larry, the photo is deceiving, it was much, much larger than it looks. It was probably at least 100m away, if not more away. May not have been an Albatross, but it was at least the size of one. We also saw Booby Birds on the course, I have only ever seen them way off shore before (outer Barrier Reef).

    Maybe it was a vulture?

    I am actually contemplating taking my Mrs there sometime. There is a full Health Spa now at Lost Farm, plus plenty to see driving around the area (Bridport is a nice little seaside village), or Tassy more generally.

    Only thing I would like to see is them offer Electric Buggies (not Carts) to make the 36 hole daily walk at little easier for us older hackers.
