Default 2015 VIC Champs - Feb 5-9 official thread

Well ladies and gents, its the moment you've all been waiting for...

Thur & Sun night accomm: As usual we will be staying at the magnificent Chateau de Andigold, the Parkview Hotel, 562 St Kilda Rd. Options include 4 to a room, 2 to a room and the "Solarman single". Approx $60 per night.
Fri & Sat night accomm: BayPlay Lodge and Cottage, Blairgowrie. We have the lodge and Cottage, sleeping around 42 (I think, will confirm). We will have the whole complex to ourselves, pool included. Cost approx $70 a head per night, but the more we get the cheaper it becomes for everyone.

Now, the info you really care about:

Thurs golf: We head back to the #18 ranked course in Australia, Woodlands Golf Club. As per last year, tee-off will be shotgun start from around 4.00PM. Cost of $80 per head.
Friday golf: The Uncivil War III will be held at the venue of the 2014 Handa Australian Womens Open, and #11 ranked course in Aus, Victoria Golf Club. Cost is confirmed at $225 and includes a light lunch prior and drinks and a BBQ dinner after the match. Field is not limited. Be there before 11:00 am for team photos and lunch.
Sat golf: You loved it in 2013, so we had to put it back in the rota. St Andrews Beach, ranked #21 in Aus. We have 36 spots booked and 13 carts. $71 per walker, $89 per Carter. Tee off from 12:27pm.
Sun golf: The beautiful and picturesque RACV Cape Schanck Resort, for the great price of $45 for walkers and $68 for Carters. Again, 32 spots and 11 carts booked. Tee off from 8:12AM - 9:08AM. $5 pull carts available for hire.
Mon golf: We head back to the "mudbelt", but next door to last years venue. La Trobe GC. $50 a head, and tee-off from 8AM.

As per usual, please let me know in the thread what days you will be attending, what nights accommodation you will be needing and whether you need a cart for Saturday & Sunday.

More info will be posted as it comes to hand.

Table tennis in the function room at Chateau De Gold.

Big (deep) pool out the back of BayPlay. Gee it was good too.

Should we head that way next year I'm tempted to make the Saturday a mid-morning round so we can utilise the pool properly on Saturday arvo.

OK gents, have done a final tally of the monies raised. If someone can guess within $10 of the exact amount in the next 24 hours I'll whack in another $50.

    I was thinking that.

What is left? Its been a couple of years since Moonah Legends. The Dunes is a cracking track too. Moonah Open (only as I have never played there before and have a masochistic streak) Any chance we could play Sorrento for a new venue?

Seems like I need to be playing on the Peninsula to shoot a decent score!

I'd gladly have another run at The Dunes. Haven't played Moonah at all either. Some of the pics on the Sorrento website have me intrigued. Has anybody played Flinders?

The best two courses we haven't played the champs at down there would be Sorrento and Moonah Open.

I know it's obvious but I'd much prefer the Peninsula GC North / South double.

I haven't got around to posting my wrap-up/ thanks yet... so here goes.

First of all, a big thanks to Lefty for leading the charge and coordinating the whole she-bang. Without you this trip wouldn't be half as good. On top of that, for being my roomie and taxi.

Andigold, Spud, Monsta, Lucasto, LarryLong, oldracer, Ned, LoveGolf2012 - As they say, many hands make light work. Your contributions are invaluable and really set the tone for the whole event.

To my playing partners (Lefty, Spud, Benno_r, LarryLong, Andigold, Ploppy Pat, Gammon, GK, matty, hardboiled, oldracer, Backintheswing & Peter_rs). It was a great to add a bunch of new faces to names I have shared OZgolf rounds with. Thanks to all for not laughing at my shitty swing (at least not to my face).

G.K, I'm glad I was able to witness both your Saturday & Sunday rounds. It was a joy to watch & a pleasure to be a part of. I'm flattered you gave me even a tiny bit of credit for your great rounds, but you're the one who was holding the club!

To Titleist & Benno_r, fantastic work in leading the Union to their first (but long-overdue) win over those southern grey backs.

Special mention to Spud, Lucas & #binh for leading the Calcutta & Auction. My face was still sore the next morning from laughing so much.

To everybody else in attendance that I haven't already mentioned... thanks for turning up & being a part of what has quickly become the best golfing trip in the country.

Last but not least, thanks to all those who put their hard-earned into the Calcutta, Auction & any other donations to a very worthy cause.

The thing i love this year was the variety. 2 genuine sandbelt. A links. A Pete Dye resort and a parklands members track.

I could not play anything like the first 4 within 2 hours of here.
