Default 2015 VIC Champs - Feb 5-9 official thread

Well ladies and gents, its the moment you've all been waiting for...

Thur & Sun night accomm: As usual we will be staying at the magnificent Chateau de Andigold, the Parkview Hotel, 562 St Kilda Rd. Options include 4 to a room, 2 to a room and the "Solarman single". Approx $60 per night.
Fri & Sat night accomm: BayPlay Lodge and Cottage, Blairgowrie. We have the lodge and Cottage, sleeping around 42 (I think, will confirm). We will have the whole complex to ourselves, pool included. Cost approx $70 a head per night, but the more we get the cheaper it becomes for everyone.

Now, the info you really care about:

Thurs golf: We head back to the #18 ranked course in Australia, Woodlands Golf Club. As per last year, tee-off will be shotgun start from around 4.00PM. Cost of $80 per head.
Friday golf: The Uncivil War III will be held at the venue of the 2014 Handa Australian Womens Open, and #11 ranked course in Aus, Victoria Golf Club. Cost is confirmed at $225 and includes a light lunch prior and drinks and a BBQ dinner after the match. Field is not limited. Be there before 11:00 am for team photos and lunch.
Sat golf: You loved it in 2013, so we had to put it back in the rota. St Andrews Beach, ranked #21 in Aus. We have 36 spots booked and 13 carts. $71 per walker, $89 per Carter. Tee off from 12:27pm.
Sun golf: The beautiful and picturesque RACV Cape Schanck Resort, for the great price of $45 for walkers and $68 for Carters. Again, 32 spots and 11 carts booked. Tee off from 8:12AM - 9:08AM. $5 pull carts available for hire.
Mon golf: We head back to the "mudbelt", but next door to last years venue. La Trobe GC. $50 a head, and tee-off from 8AM.

As per usual, please let me know in the thread what days you will be attending, what nights accommodation you will be needing and whether you need a cart for Saturday & Sunday.

More info will be posted as it comes to hand.

Cape shanck wasn't hard and I didn't think it was tight... Position golf as it didn't have length as protection.

I wouldn't call any course we played this year tricked up.

From my memory of playing both the National Old and Cape Schank years ago was that the National Old was just a larger version. Bigger greens with more bumps, undulations, tears and quicker speed. Wider fairways in most parts with bigger mounds, longer hole length, much deeper bunkers and more of them. Wide of the fairway the boonge was a hell of a lot thicker and not an place you wanted to be looking for golf balls in summer with the red belly blacks, tigers and brownies. I enjoyed playing both but didn't enjoy hitting 12 greens in reg at the National and 3 stabbing half of them because I was in the wrong spot and they were sliiiiiick.

Shit. Tough choice, but I'm still playing so I guess by that rationale I must.

    There's a disturbing thought.

I picked up a $295 speeding fine on the way to Woodlands. I guess I'll have to chalk that one up to eager puppy syndrome. Bugger!

73 in a 60 zone. I guess I can't argue with the fine on that basis. Worse still, it wasn't far from home, in a place where I know they occasionally have speed cameras.

Youch. Gee they don't miss ya!

That same offence would be $110 and 2 points here. And we don't get booked for going 3ks over the limit.

Can't blame you for being keen to get to Woodlands but that does make it an exxy round of golf!

We were generous guys, but not as generous as these guesses. No-one got the right amount within $10 but I'm whacking in another $50 anyway just coz.

The final amount raised was $2981.50. On behalf of everyone I've donated $1000 of this total to the Leon Treadwell memorial day, and the other remaining I'll leave in my bank account until the start of next month to gain a skosh more interest (hopefully enough to make an even $3K but I din't think so), then it's off to BeyondBlue.

A very good efforts boys and girl, thanks all for your generous contributions!

I do mate, yeah. Just tossing around a few ideas, we're looking a lot more city and NE based for 2016 so just trying to get as many options as possible.

Can't remember where I posted it but I've played one round at Eynesbury and it blew its tits off and pissed down rain. Kinda turned me off the place, but in Feb it should be a lot nicer on both counts. Possible option.

Reckon you could have a sly word with the pro shop guys @ Northern about Sunday availability next time you're there mate? At worst its a great fallback option if our other plans don't eventuate.

Yep, couldn't be happier with that.

I reckon we can get $3500 next year, as we're all coming back, plus some additionals that couldn't make it this year, right boys? (don't have to include you Shaz as you're a mainstay, I know you'll be here!)
