    Default Ryder Cup

Been watching the "Miracle at Medinah" series as spoken by the players and just watched the one by Ian Poulter.........frikkin awesome, I've still got goose bumps, he could be in a wheelchair with one arm and he would still be in my team, so looking forward to this showdown

I find it a bit difficult to get excited by the Ryder Cup, but I do find the Captain's Pick process to be one of the more interesting parts of the whole thing.

It probably shows the depth that Europe has that they can leave Luke Donald out, but on the other hand the USA almost have to pick Hunter Mahan because he just won an event. Apart from his win he has had a poor year, but there are very few USA players you would want who aren't already in.

I really hope the crowds don't go over the top with their false patriotism, but that part of the event seems to be getting worse over the years, so I guess we'll just have to put up with it.

and the US have Patrick Reid, one of the top 5 golfers in the world, u know I reckon secretly he really regrets saying that......the crowd issue is strange in that at any other time golfers go nuts when they hear a cow fart in the next paddock but encourage the noise at the Ryder Cup......I don't mind it, but the idiots that yell out in normal tourney's need necking for sure

Hunter is still rated 20th in the world. Pretty strong golfer.

    Horrible pressure chipper.

Mahan is a gun at matchplay too, has won the Accenture matchplay and also has an 11 game win streak in that event. Not a lot of others putting their hand up for selection either.
Looking forward to the event, even if it should be a Euro walkover.

I think the fact that it's at Gleneagles this year means the crowd will be less OTT.
I think the EU team will annihilate the US no matter who they field. Patrick Reed just had the worst weekend of golf I've seen a pro have in a long long time, ugly as sin 82 to miss the secondary cut. Top 5 my a$$.
Keegan has been poor most of the year, Webb hasn't done bugger all. Whereas Hunter is a good match player. Shite chipper though.
I think EU will win easily.

Interesting that the average ranking of players is lower for the US than the Euros.

Look at some of the guys on the US team. Phil. Furyk. Reed. Kuchar. Walker. Watson. Except for some VERY early season form they've probably not played well recently. Then you've got similar guys on the EU team like. Dubisson. Donaldson. Bjorn. I think the number of "form" players heavily favours EU but if the US guys mentioned above can play to their potential we might have a match.

Match play is a completely different ball game. I think it will be pretty close.

I'm not sure what is more surprising, that more players in the Ryder cup use Callaway than TM or that McIlroy is the sole Nike player.

I agree. I hope the US get smashed and their idiot fans get silenced, but anything can happen in golf, as we all know.

I cant wait for this to kick off.. I wasn't playing golf when the last Ryder cup was held so I didnt get into it live but watching the replays of the Sunday is getting me pumped for this one. I would love to see the Euros get up but in a way that makes Sunday interesting so hope its a close one.
