Yeah I agree. He doesn't say much that doesn't make sense in that article. Rory could win six straight, but there was a time when Tiger could do the same thing. You'd have to agree though that Tiger has to be better than he was to achieve what he did again, which I think it's the point Monty is trying to make.

I am a big fan of both players. But Rory is no where near tiger yet.

This is just a silly puff piece to get a few readers at Xmas.

Six majors in a row is Disneyland.

Also tigers cut streak and win percentage leaves Rory in his dust.

Montgomerie believes that McIlroy deserves to be the betting favorite for the Masters and he even went one step further, claiming that a clean sweep of the 2015 majors - meaning an unprecedented six wins in a row for McIlroy - isn't exactly far-fetched.
"I'm sure it's a 100-1 shot, but still it's worth a punt," he said. "If I was a gambler, which I'm not, I'd put money on that. He's that dominant, and that good."

    Rory is currently between $6.20 and $7.40 in betting for each of the 4 majors. 6.2 x 6.2 x 6.2 x 7.4 = 1763. So I'd say Monty's 100-1 for the clean sweep is unders!

Obviously the extra 30 yards is 30 yards off the right edge of the fairway...

Tiger appears to have the chipping yips. Foley's theory of one release pattern for all normal shots (including the shots around the green) has turned Tiger into a chipping retard.

Before Foley Tiger used a variety of releases around the green. His short game then was all feel. Now it seems to be technique without the feel element and low confidence.

    Sad to watch.

I'm probably wrong but i don't remember Woods having these chipping yips under Foley? Haven't they only came to the fore since he had the injury layoff and left Foley?

Got the WMPO golf IQ'd to watch tonight after work, but looking at the stats Tiger is getting his driver right out there. Is Phoenix at high altitude or something? Or is he just smiting it again. His chipping woes are pretty bizarre, for sure… . Surely chipping was his focus in terms of practice between his Hero World Challenge last year and this tournament...

Putting the chipping aside i think he's heading in a good direction. The swing changes won't bed and become apparent overnight but you can absolutely see he's modifying it.

My guess is he is trying to get his chipping before Foley and he has lost it. That leaves him in no man's land. Same thing happened to Baker-Finch when he went to Lead better seeking more length. He lost his old driver swing and couldn't find the fairway.

    Yep.
Luke Donald also crapped out when he tried to get some more distance. People should just stick with whatever got them to number 1.

Chipping and short pitching (and these shots he's fluffing are very short) is a game with a game and his full swing really shouldn't interfere with them.

How deeply he and Foley dwelved into the short game tho i have no idea. I'm sure he will have these flubs sorted out after another couple of tournies.

This article was written by a qualitative biomechanist, which is quite interesting. Ki-tora is Tiger.

I watched the last half of the replay this afternoon. I didn't see any of the chip shots so I can't comment, but I can't imagine any coach tweaking his chipping or any other part of his short game. He used to have the best short game any long hitter ever had.

Maybe he is just getting old, and his confidence is down because of it. A twinge of self-doubt is all it takes. His short game will come back sometime.

I'm no swing technician, but his swing looks different.... again. They showed his hole in one from 97, his swing has changed a lot from that time to now.

He also showed lots of patience and restraint when the idiot Americans shouted out as he was about to swing on 16, twice. Bubba would've gone mental.

Bubba WOULD have gone mental...and then blamed his caddie.

So did anyone watch the road crash this morning? What went wrong today? I assume this is the first time Tiger has finished stone cold motherless?

He was finished before the coverage started. 44, 38. Highest score as a pro.
