Strange
On the approach to green analysis, how does it measure distance to pin if it doesnt know where the pin is each day?
GPS signal/reception doesn't seem to be the issue. From my checking so far, it is because of;
1) Google Maps image overlays not being accurately placed
2) They have mixed up a couple of holes for Redland Bay when they mapped it. I have contacted them and they have fixed it (to be checked and confirmed today).
I played and recorded a round at Nudgee yesterday and seemed to work fine, and much easier to edit at the end.
What I have worked out so far;
Tap often, and if not sure tap again. It is easier to delete a tap in the after round edit than it is to add a missing shot. Not that adding a shot is all that difficult. This also helps maintain accuracy of the measurements.
You need to manipulate some shot positions to maintain accuracy of stats. For example drives can often be recorded as fairway missed because of Google Maps inaccuracy and I guess a degree of guessing when they mapped the course and designated the "fairway". Ditto shots into the green for GIR calculations.
All shots get used for club distance calculations, including the drive that hit a tree a 100m out and dropped straight down, or worse hit something and ended up behind you! (not me, but I have seen it happen!). It would be good to be able to manipulate the data to be able to calculate a new average, for example on shots on the fairway only, or be able to selectively remove outliers.
Can't get that link to work on phone will have to check later on PC ... Thanks though !
So what's the concensus on this? More trouble and $$$ than their worth or best thing to golf since Holly Sanders?
Worth the money, if you wish to use it, the upload becomes easier as you get use to it. Good piece of kit for me.

The more I've used it the more I'm questioning how useful it is.
It's good for new clubs and assessing things like gaps/distances, but once you know that I'm not sure.
Would be good if they opened up the data so someone in Aus could link it up with Golflink stats or something like that, but ongoing I'm not sure what it's for other than letting me re-look at a round later that day when I've calmed down a bit!
Granted I've had one round but I love it ... Always been into the stats so can't see it losing appeal for me
I'm yet to use mine because of an injury but I'm going to be most interested in the stats too which should give me a pretty good indication on where to focus practise
I am still on the fence on its value.
I have logged 6 rounds so far, 5 around my home course and 1 at Nudgee. There are accuracy issues with my home course, both in course mapping and Google's Satellite image overlays. The mapping was supposedly fixed, but I have yet to see it. The Google overlay is a more difficult issue to solve, though I have logged the issue on Google Maps. The end result is the stats calcs are wrong, and to attempt to fix them you end up potentially mucking up the distance measurements etc.
The positive is I didn't find the same problems with the Nudgee round. Everything seemed to be about right, the stats were correct, and I didn't need to do much to sign off the round.
Game Golf Support have now been able to fix up the Reddie Bay hole mix ups for me, and I was able to confirm they were right with yesterday's round. I have asked them to also fix up another fairway that wasn't registering properly, and that should now be done. Hopefully getting close now to Stats being correct ( with a little manipulation when signing off round).
Their support are very helpful and responsive.
Next time I play a practice round, I am going to use my spare tags in some test clubs and do some distance comparisons. I will also try to remember to use my usual Golf GPS to logs some comparative distances (not that I think Game Golf distances are wrong).
Played today with the unit for the first time. Uploading soon
Felt it was very easy to use. Didn't forget to tag.
Can't wait to compile some good stats and see where I can improve etc
Me too. I'm hoping to get a practice round in tomorrow and looking forward to using game golf extensively
Just created a challenge as a test for the system and see how it works. Simple lowest score for until 1st November. Wonder if it could do nett score??
Anyway I've invited who i follow, if some of the other guys can invite more then great.
invite only at this stage!
Geez coalesce I hate to say it but you and I might battle in this one!
