Once I decide my round is bad enough to be a practise round, GG gets turned off. I've used it enough now to know how far I hit my irons so I mainly use it as a keep sake of cool rounds I've played and having fun competing with mates off the tee. (Glad Matty and Mr 3 Jab aren't my mates )

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but it looks like you can use the app on its own without the tags and the GPS unit, you just use your phone for everything.

This will be good for me as the normal system is pointless for as I use tour locks in nearly all my clubs.

Hopefully they will add smartwatch support and you will be able to leave your phone in your pocket.

I think a few of the golf apps do that sort of thing goonie. Noticed it when I was browsing around at what apps worked with my pebble watch. I think gamepad is one of the apps for your phone where you can also buy tags to work with it. Tap the tag to your phone for the nfc to register the shot (obviously won't work with an iphone).

Yes you can, though you have to select each club via the screen before you hit, to "tag" the club. I haven't played a round that way as yet, but have played around with the app a little bit. You can also tag conventionly using the tags and tap the 'phone in your pocket. I am not sure what comms it uses, but apparently it will work.

The upside is it is also a GPS app that also gives you graphics, via either a fly over snapshot, or a graphic simulation of the hole. There is also a pretty neat distance calculator, that will tell you distance to a point, and also the distance from there to centre of the green, which would be handy for course management.

The potential downside is that it will likely chew a fair bit of battery power, given the level of manual interface and the graphics, GPS etc.

For me the biggest issue with the app is that when you go to select a club on the screen. I have multiple clubs listed for each club type, but they description doesn't come up on the app screen, only D, 3W, H1 4i etc, so I have no way to scroll to my club. Manually tagging to the 'phone would be much easier for me. I might give it a try during a practice round and see how it goes.

The App does also seem to be pretty clunky and slow on my 'Phone (S4).

I am also not sure what level of service a non owner will get? Because I already have a login I get access to all my data etc.

Someone had a good idea about attaching Tags via velcro pads in a post in this thread, would potentially get around the Tour lock issue you have.

I just want to give another positive review of the support the GG guys give. I played a round the other day on a 27 hole course and the GG card had a couple of mistakes on the Par for a couple of holes. I sent them a support request and had an email back within 24 hrs telling me they had fixed it and unsigned my round. I checked it and it was fixed. Not bad for a minor course in the middle of the Czech Republic.

I don't even know who won the July challenge. I set it up then didn't play a round in July, or August.

I've got my last few rounds waiting on my device. I can't be bothered to upload them. The novelty has worn off

I finally had some tag casualties. One stopped working, and I managed to lose 2 others somehow. I have been using the spare tags, but I found where you could order individual replacement tags. I ordered them on 3rd October and they arrived today. A quick check and they seem to work OK with the belt unit. I will find out for sure they are all good on Wednesday.

I treated myself to a new set of tags. $6 AUD each delivered, so the full set cost me $108.

I see there are a few rival product out there now. Most use smart phone connectivity, which is also an option with Game Golf. Personally I prefer the belt unit, much simpler, no fiddling or worrying about phone battery etc.

    This is a new one due for release shortly. More functionality, including swing data, but pretty pricey at $499 US;

Just had a look at clubhub.
Not currently legal for comp play.
It says the app knows what club your using but how does it distinguish multiple practice swings v the shot? I couldn't find any mention about tagging the club and got the impression it was automatic until I gave it some thought.
The extra data makes it quite interesting.

They have updated the Google Map view for my home course. Much higher Def and better quality images. You can also zoom in closer than before it seems.

I am fast approaching 300 comp rounds in Game Golf. I presume I am the only one here still using it? Anyone using any of the competitor systems? e.g. Arccos
