Shaft Graphics Measurements - is your shaft tipped?
In response to a lot of questions asked about whether a shaft is tip trimmed or not, I figured I could start a list of measurements so people have easy reference.

Benno, great idea but you are relying on the graphics on each shaft to be in exactly the same spot. Is the manufacturers quality control that good?

Most of these numbers come straight from emails from the manufacturer. And yes, I believe quality control is that good.
I think most of the confusion comes from people pulling shafts, and measuring assuming the club manufacturer has not tipped the shaft for driver etc.

I don't imagine the list will get too big. Who on Ozgolf buys shafts new and untipped to be able to get measures?

sometimes 3rd or 4th hand. There are the few amongst us who are 2nd hand, then 5th hand for the same gear.

Whilst it will more than likely require more intricate equipment, measuring the actually parallel length of the tip rather than to a decal painted on the shaft (which may or may not be the same across every shaft, impossible for me to speculate on) seems more accurate.
The parallel length on this is 4", so a set of decent quality calipers should be able to tell you if the parallel tip section is still 4" or 3 1/2" or 3", etc

What distance do you have from the tip to the start of the flexcode, not far up the shaft?

I'm going to call it tipped 5/8" then. The verniers should back this up.

24.75"seems to be the go Graphite Design ADs in stiff;
AD DI 7S - 24.75" to first green ring
AD BB 6S - 24.75" to first blue ring
I am guessing via comparison that X Flex are an inch shorter to the first ring.
Miyazaki c Kua Tour 43X - 28" to front of M.

You are most likely right, but since you are unsure, go to the MRC webpage and send them a message. They are pretty good at answering promptly.
