Default eBay has been hacked - change your password

eBay got hacked. Unencrypted personal information has been stolen ie your name, address, phone number, date of birth etc. So potential for identity theft is really high.

Luckily no evidence so far of credit card or Paypal info being breached, but still, might be an idea to change your password and security question for what it's worth. And keep it in the back of your mind in case anything strange starts happening around your other accounts.

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-05-2...etails/5469330

US online company eBay has urged its almost 150 million users to change their passwords after hackers broke into its database and gained access to customer names, passwords and other personal data.

eBay says the attack occurred in late February and early March and was only detected two weeks ago.

The hackers took email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers as well as birth dates and other personal information.

eBay says it has no evidence credit or financial information, which is stored separately in encrypted formats, has been taken.

The company said it had not seen any indication of increased fraudulent account activity on eBay and that there was no evidence its online payment service, PayPal, had been affected.

Heard this on the radio and then this mronign get a call from the bank saying my account had been hacked... First thought they were related, but after dealing with the bank for 20 mins I now doubt they are related though as the hacking involved ATM withdrawls in the city. Luckily for me the falcon was on to it!

There is a big banner across the top of their site advising everyone to change their password

If I go straight to My Ebay, as I do, there is nothing.

If I go to ebay.com, there is nothing.

There is nothing. Useless pricks, will probably wait and see if they get any disputes, investigate for 3 months etc etc.

Given they advertise the use of Paypal on Chinese fake sites, nothing is beyond them

Is that the mobile App Lobby?, absolutely nothing on the full site, no email, no nothing. I saw the news and changed my password early, have the email confirming the change, so it isn't as if their email isn't working.

Perfect chance to buy up a stack of golf gear and blame it on hackers.

On their full site I had to go looking for 'Announcements' to find anything about it...

    That seems a bit poor...

I can't see anything on the iPad version.

Can't see where to change my password either.

I changed my password late march, have they said when it was hacked beyond a rough timeline?

Won't work for you because the hacker is buying the golf gear.

Doesn't matter, there apparently wasn't any PP data involved. The eBay passwords were also still encrypted they said. But still better to be safe rather than sorry.

I changed my password last week and tried to log in today and can't for the life of me remember my new password.
To make matters worse the email linked to my account has been out of action for about 7 years.
    I can't contact ebay cos I can't log in.

Stoopid I know. Feedback was only 40ish.

    Register again?
