Very nice! It's funny how a lot of the sets back then were designed for carrying 4 woods and only going to a SW. Obviously balls went shorter and spun more but now it's all about carrying 5 wedges!

Nobody ever carried four woods though.

Back when I started the 5 wood was uncommon, and it was only when the Little Slammer and the Cobra Baffler became popular that 5 wood started to be standard. Usually the set up was 1 wood or 2 wood, four wood then 2 iron, 3 iron. No gap wedges back then, either.

There is no doubt that when polished up the persimmons look great. Nice pics Hatch.

Very impressive Hatch; you should come with me to Victoria next year for the vintage day.

They are just like any other blade I have hit. Pure out of the middle, but weak out of the toe.

I use the Callaway supersoft ball and the low compression ball makes all hits feel solid.

If you used a Pro V or other high compression ball they jar and put a lot of stress on the shaft.

The clubs equate to 2 full clubs difference with modern lofts. (eg the 1 iron has modern 3 loft)

Rebooting this thread, as I've started to collect a few of the more classic clubs from the past.

They aren't so easy to come by in Australia, well at least in my experience.

But recently was able to come by a Wilson 8802, a set of Muirfield 20th anniversary irons and matching woods.

Picked up a set of '73 Hogan Apex irons last year.

    Anyone else collecting?
