Checking in here. Lynwood today. Not a lot went to plan to say the least. Had to buy a pair of shoes in the pro shop after rocking up with only my thongs. Then did my back on the 3rd hole. Struggled around hitting it shite then got to the 12th. 490m par 5 with 2 water carries and various other dangers that I spent the previous 11 holes finding. Hit driver + 4 wood to the front of the green leaving a 30ft eagle putt. Was stoked with that and thought I was back. Then preceded to 4 putt for bogey. I wasn’t back...

    How good is golf!

I’ve had many days at work that were more enjoyable than that round. Although today is my first day back after Xmas break and is not one of those days.

Well, no. You actually had a four putt. You just had more putts after the first four.

Down our way we've started calling a 4-putt a Rentschy, after one of the locals, who is on to his fourth wife.

Cos he's already had 3 misses...

Does a 5 putt go in here?

On par 5 for two, long eagle putt and the rest was just bloody comical

I 4-putted from 10 feet on the 6th today. Straight, flat putt. I was on for 2 after a good drive and a perfect 7-iron from 150-odd, then left the first putt 2-3 feet short. Lipped out the second, then went to tap in from the opposite side of the hole and mis-hit from 5cm away. Giggles all round. Made sure of the next one to at least walk off with a one-pointer. Oh Dear.

Par 3 165M with strong back wind. Took my 8 iron. Went over to the back of green maybe 25M.
1st putt went way long, then short, rim shot, putt out....

    Sigh...

I'm new here, so adding an old story to the thread - last August I had a 6, with 5 putts!

Par 3 11th at St Andrews old course, carved a slice to the right side of the green about 10 foot from the 7th pin....but 70 metres from the one I was after!(measured with google maps later!)

Ever tried to hit a putter 70 metres? I duffed the first 2 tries! And then 3 putted from about 20 metres.

Caddy didn't see the funny side when I joked about hitting wedge if I was that far away again...

Easily done. Especially when the pin is just behind the bunker on the little ledge.

    Checking in.

12 footer downhill for birdie, a foot of break, ran 4 foot bye for a pretty regulation par, or so I thought.
Lipped the return putt. Went to use the back of the putter for the bogey. Almost missed the ball, missed the hole.

    Solid 4 putt.

I once read about a bloke on here that would've gone out and hit 100/100 after doing this.

A couple of weeks ago on 18Old.

About 15 feet below the hole, not a lot of break, but the greens had recently got a sanding and this putt looks like it has a lot more than anywhere else so far so I feel I need to give it a bit of a tap to deal with that.
I was wrong, I blow it 6 feet past.
The 6 footer down the hill hits the high side of the hole on the right and gets spat out to 3 feet to the left.
3rd has the most break so far and hits the hole again and finishes 3 inches behind the hole.
    Tap in the 4th.

Stroke round to finish with a net 75 with the winner on 72.
The secret of golf it to turn three shots in two. - Bobby Jones

It's a very long time since I've checked in here, and I wish I wasn't here now.

I doubt if there is ever a good time to have a 4 putt on the 16th, but a 2 putt would have been 3 points and still a chance of saving the round. It would also have been a win and clinch the nine 3 and 2. A three putt would have frustrating but at least it was a square and dormie for the nine. A four putt meant a loss, and then two more lost holes meant we were buying the chips in the clubhouse.

Have to put my hand up for this thread , par 5 4 th hole today . Had just birdied the third , hit my best drive in ages on the 4 th , on the green in 3 bout 4 mts from the pin , gettable putt downhill right to left , usually lag it down , rush of blood trying to get bird , hit it four foot past , lipped the return putt , backhand tap in attempt only managed to nudge it a couple of inches ( only had to go four ) second backhand went in . Turned an easy 5 a 3 into a 7 a 1 . In terms of what happened after that it was very costly
