I saw 4 (3+1) recently. You can come back from such a disaster.

Impressive. I think I had five in the same bunker earlier this year after getting the giggles on attempt 3. The lip on said bunker was lucky to be a foot high - really easy shot to get out once I stopped laughing.

I wish I wasn't posting in this thread, to paraphrase the latest NSW Road Safety ads.

But, after starting with 5 straight pars and getting onto number 6 in reg, and hitting a good lag putt to 3 feet, my putting world fell apart.

    It just isn't fair.

    My Ernie moment...

11th at Dunheved...medium length par 3 with a green sloping from back to front and a little bit left to right. Always a green that I've hated with a passion.

Bunker shot barely got out onto the green about 25-30 feet, pin high. First putt was ok but 2 feet short turned into 10 feet short once it rolled back down the slope. 2nd putt smashed past a couple of feet, then pulled the next one back to where I'd been for the 2nd putt.

    Wipe.

From memory I had that, and 3 putted 14, 15 and 17. Wallowed in mediocrity, I did.

Par 5 18, looking good for the medal standing on the tee and great standing over a 15 footer for eagle. Burned the hole to finish 2 feet past, missed the second back to a foot past. Smashed the third in disgust, ball bounced up off the back of the cup and hit the putter face on the sweet spot and finished 20 feet from the hole. 2 putts later in for 8, 6 putts including the double hit. Didn't win.

Haven't had a 4 putt for a while but I '5 putted' the Par 3 8th at RH for a 6 last saturday. Finished 6 over in the monthly medal so was overly impressed.
Especially as the 2nd putt was from just over 2 feet!

But if you chipped the next one, technically it wouldn't qualify. But this would be the right thread for it anyway.

Slightly off topic, but has anybody ever put the putter down after putting off the green and selected a chipping club for the next. I guess the only time I would ever do it is if I putted into a bunker (which I have never done). Otherwise I continue to putt, no matter where it is.

Had a 5 putt the other week when going for birdie and yesterday had a total brain fade on our first. After chopping it up the mud I was about 40 feet way and putted to a leaf 30 feet left of the hole thinking it was the hole lol. The reason I can think of is yesterday they didn't have the cups painted for some reason but maybe that's a bit of a stretch.

A 34 marker in my group today twice needed to chip after putting, but one of the holes was already wiped. I'm sure there were some 4 putts in there too.

4 putted the 9th St Andrews Beach today for a solid wipe. It was in the most evil pin position - front probably 2m on just before it runs back back down the front. The whole front tear is maybe 9m square. Bludy ridiculous to be honest. 3 out f 4 in the group 4 putted. The only one who didnt had taken 3 chps to actually get on to the tier and hold it.
    Cheers

I've never played there when the pin is up the back, you really need to be on your game to even hit that green

Nice day for it after the shit weather of the past month, hope you enjoyed it

It was Bludy freezing mate. Few showers as well. Seems the sun failed to reach there.

I know a bloke who had full wedge in after missing a 10 footer.

10th at Warrnambool slopes big time back to front and old mate was up above the hole. Massive head wind (so tail wind from above the hole) was barely moving as it went past the hole. Trickle, trickle, trickle, picking up speed, picking up more speed, off the front, down the hill, keeps running down to bottom of hill 80m away. Full Wedge back up onto front edge. Hits next putt 4 foot past the hole. Thank Christ he made that one.

530m, ALWAYS playing into whatever breeze / wind / cyclone there is (and Warrnambool is seaside, so there is a LOT).

A fortnight ago I hit Driver, 3 wood, 3 wood and was still 60m short.

That's one of two holes I can remember playing at Warrnambool a few years ago. From memory it was into a strong wind and I hit driver, driver off the deck and then my longest hybrid and just made the front of the green. Middled all of them. Brutal.
