Ripped off on Gumtree

Think I might of been ripped off on Gumtree, any suggestions?....BTW paid via bank deposit.

Ring your bank to try and reverse the deposit?

I think you'd only get away with reversing the deposit if you could prove that you deposited it into the wrong account. I'm assuming gumtree has no 'protections' in place for this sort of thing?

Chalk it up to experience. Gumtree recommends face to face transactions.

Contact your bank, then online fraud police have a form you can lodge...

I had the gumtree 'seller' refund my money within the fortnight...(I paid with credit card)

Yeah for memory they had something that asks you to lodge the police report number with them.

I had an issue with a beat-up Scotty TeI pUTTER.
Was only $100, but that wasnt the point and i persisted.
After to-ing and fro-ing i rang the Police in the town, and the golf club GM where he was a member as i had the guys name, address and bank details.
Both the Police and the GM had a "quiet word" to him (he was a pennants player and a top golfer in the region, so not hard to find out about him via our friends at Google...)!
All good, he left the putter at the G.C Pro shop and i had it collected from a buddy of mine that lived in town.
There are ways, id be confident you'll get you hard earned back...

False alarm guys the item has arrived, although he said he sent it Friday but there was no scanning until mid morning today and it was Express Post. He still has'nt replied to my emails so buggered if I know, anyway all good.

That is not unusual for AP tracking in my experience, nothing tends to show up till the morning of delivery. Doesn't explain the 1 day gap for an Express Post item though.
