What was the ball flight? Might be the camera angle, but looked like a pull fade?

The earlier actions is an out it in swings which produce push cuts and fades. When I'm playing well I hit pull draws. They can get out there with the driver and woods, but its very inconsistent cos I rely a lot on timing and its no good for the irons. Also my lower body is driving the swing which again brings timing into play.

When I was a 4 maker I would rarely hit more than 8 or 9 greens a round, which is notngood enough. I've been working with Virge to get my release right and to use my lower bodynmpre efficiently.

The last game I played I only hit 2 greens, but started to show signs of improvement. Also ever since I've started working eoyh Virge my short game has improved 10 fold. I don't spin the ball much but I'm a lot more consistent with the straight forward shots around the greens. I've also added a lob shot to my game.

Hey Binh, Looking good! Solid back and at impact. Hold a pose postion on the follow position to the ball lands. This simple drill helps with rythum and keeps the mind clean under the hammer!! Some red rounds are awaiting

Ok so after a couple of range sessions last week and a game yesterday I think I'm closer to unlocking what works for me in the golf swing and what the major flaws are so I have something to work on. Hopefully a couple a of range sessions this week and a trip to Narrabeen will confirm what I'm working on.

    Looking good mate.

If you slow down to say a 2/3 speed swing, do you lose tempo and see your Swing get thrown out or is it all good?

main thing i spot with the most recent swing is dropping your shoulder/head towards the ball position, throwing off your down swing a little (hence the yank left).

other than that there is the obvious fast take away which could sometimes lead to decelerating, but i played pennant with a dude at The Dunes last year who has a similar speed takeaway (albeit a little more flexible) and he is a solid 1-2 handicapper with the potential to go much lower.

it's all a matter of whether you can do that same swing well when it comes to your wedges and having to hit in-between distances. if it is still working for you on those shots too without any decelling, you won't really need to toy with the tempo too much.

i know that i sometimes get a little fast in my takeaway and only really flush it when i turn it down a few notches so that the speed of the club is peaking right through impact.

where do you lose most of your shots in a round?

Agreed mate. Fixing the cause of the head drop is what I'm working on. I've always had a fast tempo and but it gets faster when I get out of sync.

I would say the worse part of my game is my iron play, especially the mid to the long irons. I also don't hit my short irons as close to the hole as I would like.

I'm think the stuff I'm working will improve my iron play and give me more consistency.

yeah i too used to struggle with mid to long irons as i generally rushed or shortened the swing in a hurry to get back to the ball as quickly as possible.

a few things i did to eliminate those problems (everyone is different, but these worked for me) were:
    1. softened my hands... less tension = more clubhead speed = more time for the club to get into the right position at impact = better contact/flight/distance/direction
    2. slowed my takeaway down a fraction to ensure that my swing made it most or all of the way to the top... i often pulled the trigger too early when taking it away quickly which often led to a near-hosel hit or a fat shot
    3. held the club a little more upright at address (this isn't an issue for you as your current setup is already doing that... prevents the heel digging into the turf on the downswing/impact)

a lot of mid to long iron play can be affected by anxiety if you are prone to not hitting them well... the only way i got over/through it was doing the things i listed above more consistently. once you can eliminate that head/shoulder drop, those things should help alleviate some of those long iron issues as i too used to really struggle with them until one day the softer hands thing just "clicked" and made it instantly easier

this is only my personal experience as i'm more of a feel player, but i find that it tends to help many of my mid to higher handicap mates who start having issues with their longer irons (most of it is mainly anxiety... less confidence = tighter hands + shorter swing, which = hosel or fat shots)

This was from today quick session with Noren. Was flushing them today, even some 3 and 4 irons. Not sure if it was I tried a couple of new things out that God I've done some practice lately I'm just timing it better.
