I have spent the last couple of years at around 100kg, I should be about 80! Just wondering how those of you that used man shake have ended up going. THinking about heading down that path!

It does the job, but I couldn't stay on it forever. I had to take a fibre supplement also.

First week or so was a bit tough to get through but if your disciplined it does make it pretty easy to lose the kgs. I lost like 13-14kg in about 4 months simply by having a shake for breakfast & lunch with a healthy snack and a normal dinner. Combined that with a daily walk and it was falling off for a while there. Unfortunately with lockdowns and stuff last year i stopped doing it and put some of the weight back on.

Will having another crack at it later in the month after I get back from a short holiday.

    Still shedding weight.
Lost 14.5kg and down on the last notch in the belt on pants size I’ve gone back to and spent a lot of years wearing.
Appetite is coming back a bit so it might settle or bump up 1-2kg which I’d be content with.

The Doc tells me my Blood Sugar is too high, so I have gone on a low Sugar and Carbs purge. I am not specifically dieting, I am still eating plenty of protein, but the weight is falling off so far. I have lost 4.8kgs since last Wednesday. Hopefully it will continue for while.

Awesome If I may ask - what have you cut down on or cut out completely?

I haven't been super strict. But I am just avoiding anything with added sugar, and/or a lot of sugar. And most Carbs e.g. Bread, Potatoes, Rice & Pasta. I am eating lots of Meat, Fish, Salads and Green Veg. I still have some Carbs e.g. Cornflakes for Breakfast, but I am conscience of the recommended normal daily allowances and try to keep Sugar and Carbs to half or less.

My Blood Sugar level is back to normal, so thumbs up from the Doc. Continuing with the general approach, allowing a few more occasional Carbs, but very much in moderation. Now down 7.5kgs on starting weight. I want to loose another 10 over the next few months, if I can.

Have you looked at eating Carnivore? I’ve been doing it since April/May 2020 and one of the things it fixed almost immediately was IBS.

No research supporting it except as a short term elimination diet; it seems to be not recommended from my quick google. That said, I eat whatever the missus puts in front of me, so when I was on the shakes it was for other meals.

Thats not actually correct, if you go beyond the quick google there is plenty of information out there.

Every patient I know with currently diagnosed IBS would swap that in an instant for a very slightly increased risk of bowel cancer at some point in the future.

Definitely not, in fact the most recently released study linking red meat to Bowel Cancer has already been debunked due to the observational nature of the trial.

The internet has as much misinformation than information. I would look to reputable sources.

The key for me trying it originally was an ex-Army mate who used to suffer severe Post Traumatic Stress with significant anxiety and depression.

When i bumped into him after a few years in 2020 he looked fantastic, super fit, strong and mentally awesome. After years on and off meds he went to a doctor who put him on an elimination diet to see if they could find a food that could be causing it. He wanted to get off anti depressants.

After 2 months of trying to add things back into the diet the best he felt was eating steak, eggs, liver and water. So he stayed on it for 6 months at that stage.

He suggested I try it for 14 days and see how i went, so i did some research and gave it a try. I got my GP involved and we did regular blood tests in the first year, tracked any possible negative side affects and not a single issue has presented itself.

In the first 14-30 days I saw the biggest improvement.

    - IBS gone
    - my PTS symptoms gone
    - joint pain gone
    - slept a full night for the first time in 10-15 years
    - I had almost unlimited energy
    - lost weight

One of the best things I have ever done and I’ve been 99% Meat based ever since.
