I get where you're coming from shadesy, but doesn't mean I agree with you. You do not by any means have to be fit and healthy to walk 18 holes of golf. And plenty are not. Fit doesn't mean you have to be able to run like Andy or do stupid things like me. I consider myself fit, but based on my diet I do not consider myself healthy. There is a guy known as Lunchbox who does triathlon. I saw him at noosa a year ago, and he recently finished an ironman. I think he's lost about 30 odd kg but still weighs about 130kg. I don't think I've met an ozg'er that could come close to matching him on size. He might be fit, but I don't think he's healthy yet, and to watch him running at the end of a race he looks like a great attack waiting to happen. Thinking of him doing a marathon make my knees hurt.

    3/1 am: 78.2kg
    10/1 am: 77.8kg
    17/1 am: 76.8kg

I don't expect much of a drop next week now, because I'm feeling fairly dehydrated.

I like for my height, based on bmi, 57kg is still within the healthy weight range. There wasn't much of me when I last weighed that.

You seem to have taken my comments out of context! I hope all with acute weight issues all the best on the weight loss goals for 2014. Leave the personal attacks as above! Very immature! Fair call ??

Yeah, I think it can work for certain people, maybe 60 or 70% of the population. For someone like me who doesn't carry a lot of muscle and has an average build it is probably an ok guide. But as soon as you're more solid then it's pointless. And by solid I don't mean fat.

It's okay as a guide, but not a hard rule. Obviously you have a bigger frame.
A BMI of 30+ would be overweight regardless of frame size.

    Try this one instead:
WAIST-TO-HIP RATIOThe waist-to-hip ratio is not only an excellent way of calculating how much excess weight you are carrying, it can also be used to indicate susceptibility to a number of health issues. These include high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes and tend to associated with a high waist-to-hip ratio. How do you calculate your waist-to-hip raio?? Using a tape measure, taking a reading from your natural waist line and the widest part of your hips. Now divide the diameter of your waist by your hip measurment. If you're a man, a ratio of 0.95 is considered low risk. A figure of 0.80 is considered low risk for women. Figures of 0.95, or less, and 0.85, or lower, are considered medium risk for men and women respectively.

Plenty of Body Builders, Weight Lifters etc would exceed the 30+ BMI. Muscle weighs a lot more than fat.

Yep .. a week of holidays and a few too many affogattos (I'm sure Courty will correct that spelling) .... waiting until weigh in Wednesday to jump on the scales and recall a batsman or two.

A couple of good walks will fix that.

I also over-indulged on the weekend, but I also spent over 3 hours running/walking, so hopefully it results in a loss overall.

I did a bit of researching on BMI results on the weekend and it only added to my skepticism on how appropriate it is as a general guide. For example, it seems the Australian Cricket team are a bunch of fat bastards. Based on their CA profiles, Watson and Harris are Obese, Warner is on the borderline, and just about everyone else is at least in the overweight sector, including Clarke! And get into NRL and AFL profiles, and it is even more ridiculous. Every NRL forward I checked came up as Obese, and I couldn't find a player in either code that was considered any better than over weight.

    To top it off I found this BMI calculator that includes a silhouette approximation of your shape based on your score. What a crock of body image BS;

    http://www.heartfoundation.org.au/he...alculator.aspx

It seems to me that waist size is a much better guide for most of us. I know that is where most of my extra luggage seems to ends up.

Day 20 of 30 coming up. Almost there! I have gotten through pretty well so far. Goes to show how much some good prep goes towards making food choices a lot easier.
Still another 10 days before I weigh myself again, but I feel better and like I should have lost something.
Will actually get a few nights in the gym this week and have started back in the running thing as well.

Well done mate , No way could I last without the dairy.. Im back on the chicken and veg for lunches and back into the gym for the first time in about 2 months this week but I couldnt sustain that no dairy diet for longer than 2 days. I think I ended up necking a 1L bottle of milk.

It's funny. Or the first two weeks I craved milk big time. Now, not so much. I won't start to re-introduce anything until after my exams, but now I'm not so sure about WHAT I actually want to anymore...

Did you carry because pushing a buggy only leaves one hand free for shovelling food into your gob?
