I know some ppl can be, but I know I'm not. I'm 5'6 and at 88kgs I'm 25kg heavier than when I was in High School!! The gut is getting way too big, there are too many chins and recently at the beach my wife was saying that when I was walking everything was giggling and not in the good way .

Yeah I'm playing ok at the moment, but I need to drop at least 8kg to 80kg. Ideally I would like to get to about 75kg, but I will see when I get to 80kg. I'm just calorie counting and throwing in the odd day or 2 of exercise at the moment and it all seems good. Also some healthy choices seems to be better than just stuffing my face all the time!!! As the boys who ate breakfast with me at QLD champs can tell you, I've got a massive appetite and can put away my share of food.

I'm on 1640 calories a day at the moment and that should drop me down 0.5kg a week, but I've dropped 3kgs in 9days.....I'm scared to try to figure out how much food I was shoving into my mouth previously!!

OK a few kg's might be good for you. But only if it's not affecting your golf! So if you are not eating as much what are going to do with the cash you save?

hahaha, thought you would agree and I hope it doesn't affect my golf. If fact with a bit of strength training, I'm hoping to hit the ball a little longer!!

I don't think I'm saving much money, as before I was going to my inlaw's and my BIL inlaw's places for dinner, now I have to buy food and cook it myself....

I could get the Dr to reply to this but based on what I am hearing that if you can walk 18 it’s a good indication that you have a good level of fitness. Based on charts, figures and other numbers that are being used to set standards that there is a good chance that these numbers say we are all fat and that is bad! You know yourself if you can play 18 holes a few times a week and can exercise for 20 minutes a day it is generally enough to stay fit and healthy! I don’t think that most need diets it's only a New Years fad!

I would think that if you can't walk a round of golf, then you are definitely unfit, but I can't see how being able to walk 10 kilometres or less in 4 hours is a good sign of fitness and not being fat.

You might call it a New Year fad, but I would call it a post-Christmas gorging correction.

Yeah fair call! Post and Pre Christmas! I just have issues with the flogs who in old rule of taking 100 of your height is your weight and being within 10% of that number carrying on about needing to go on a diet. Body image is not something we to worry about! Health, fitness and good golfing are...

Will Walking for golf achieve a body like Yoss? Which is of course the ultimate aim for anyone?
Why exactly do I need to answer to you?

Years ago I could walk 18 holes carrying yet could barely run around the block. I was definitely unfit. And plenty of the guys I see out there would fit that mould too. Playing golf does not make you fit and healthy otherwise this would be a very empty thread.

Define fit and healthy. Walking 18 holes of golf can conservatively burn 1000-1200 calories which is probably a decent net gain. Heck even carting burns 400-500. So in terms of obesity, heart disease and fat storing, walking 18 holes of golf is as good as anything. It will not fix anything aerobically but this is the FB thread not who can run the furtherest thread? Weight gain/loss (as you know) is simply calories in vs calories out. Heck you can eat maccas only and lose weight. Will that make you healthy... Hell no. But certainly walking 18 holes of golf will be a great step and an easy way to burn calories. Will it get you "fit"... It won't hurt but probably not.
Why exactly do I need to answer to you?

Im sorry but you are so wrong goughy! But for the sake of this thread yeah whatever. There is nothing wrong with a few extra kgs just stay fit and helathy and weight has nothing to do with that. I would prefer to shot rounds like Bluu than be a skinny chopper. Go the fat bastards and lets not worry about weight based on statistics written by some skinny flog!

I'm actually coming around to your way of thinking CT. Just cos someone is skinny doesn't mean that they are fit or if they are a little round, that they are unfit. There is something that I call sport fit, I used to do 40-50km rides or play basketball for 2hours and the skinny blokes couldn't keep up. However I don't think I was very healthy with the amount of crap food I was eating. Also the fitest I've been was in HS when I played a tonne of basket of year and was really fit, but I couldn't run 1600m.....

Anyway this thread is about losing weight and most of us here have been doing a good job, so keep it going boys!!!

Bollocks. There are plenty of blokes at my club who are fat and walk 18 holes but could not run or do any other form of exercise to save themselves, probably because they drink too much piss and smoke too much. Being able to walk 18 holes doesn't mean squat for your fitness, if you don't walk fast your heart rate barely increases.

On the flipside, I am pretty fit for a fat bloke because I play active sports (eg basketball) but being fat is still bad for my health in a number of ways, which is why I am trying to do something about it.

Really, if you are not interested in losing weight, that's fine for you, you can justify it to yourself however you want, but please take your arguments out of this thread because there are people here who are actually trying to lose weight and don't need you discouraging them.

And don't worry about heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and the other conditions brought on by obesity either?

I get the impression that you are from Ararat or are a troll.
