Well, we are exactly 18 days from teeing it up and duking it out again for the Uncivil War. If you don't know already this is being played on the prestigious turf of Royal Melbourne's West course, the nations number 1 sporting complex.

It has been decided by last years captains that a tradition shall start of "passing on the armband" to a new captain, selected by the previous years captain (don't worry future Confederate captain, you will get a new armband, not my puked on one from last year! ).

I see that running shoes are not allowed. I was thinking of wearing mine to minimise the number of shoes to take down and avoid a colour clash. Not anymore.

Lunch will be wraps, point sandwiches, rolls, chef's selection of hot savouries, and apples to take out on course.

OK gents and lady, here are the finer details for the day:

Light lunch will be at 12.30pm, at 1.15pm we will receive a quick briefing from a member of staff and head out to our allocated tees for a 1.30pm shotgun start. Unfortunate, but they want us all finishing around the same time for food afterwards.
Speaking of food afterwards, post-game drinks and eats will be held at 6pm. Wines and beer etc will be available via cash bar before and after the game, so if you need some pre-game dutch courage to calm the nerves, facilities are available!

There will be a drinks cart out on course to cater for us, and each player is allocated 3 drinks (non-alcoholic) and 2 confectionery bars while playing.

Pull-carts are free for hire, and we have range balls included in our package as well, so if you wish to hit a few to warm-up you can, just be aware it'll have to be prior to 12.30, or else you'll miss out on lunch.

No problem Benno. I should now be able to get my way into the Qantas lounge at the airport so will hopefully be all good to go from there straight to RM. Regardless of whether my plans work out or not, you guys go whenever you're ready. I've got your mobile number so Ill send you a message if doesn't look like I will get the the hotel by 10.

I'd like to get to RM with enough time to hit a few balls and have a look around too.

'Tis a glorious morning indeed. Didn't get any sleep on the plane last night so will probably be well rooted by tee time this arvo. By the sounds of things, there may be a few others who are struggling after rehydrating themselves last night.

Currently driving around Melbourne, waiting for the shops to open to stock up on some balls. Then it's off to RM via the hotel. Wonder if Simmsy is waiting in the car park yet?
