    Default Bitcoin

Suppose I should know something about it but I don't.

Anyway, at tonights dinner we all put in tips for the sharemarket, winner of the NRL, gold, oil and this year its Bitcoin as well. Lose gets next years dinner (17 starters)

Myth that explodes inside 12 months or something useful. Trading at about $1000 AUD at the moment.

What say you ozgolf, do I get on board or is it a dog?

    Sorry what?

Ps. I do think its cool and won't just go away but I wouldn't actually 'invest' in the 'currency' if that's what you are asking

All it needs is for someone big (Ebay, Amazon etc) to start accepting it as currency.

It may not be too far off?

However I think $600 - $700 is where it should be..

Doesn't bitcoin have security issues? Something about the founders computer being hacked and bitcoins gone.

Yeah and if you are storing them on YOUR pc - and your hard drive dies for example - they are also gone (have heard of that happening to some people)

A mate at work speculated on litecoin a fortnight ago. His $1000 jumped to 5k in two days and then dropped to 3k two days later.

Its probably worth 20 bucks now...

Been a bad night for punters long Bitcoin:

The virtual currency Bitcoin has crashed in China, falling nearly 50 per cent after the country's biggest trading platform BTC China banned deposits in yuan following new restrictions reportedly imposed by the central bank

I find it hilarious that in the day and age of worthless fiat currency, the latest fad is all about another worthless fiat currency.

Considering that the Fed last night announced tapering of " economic stimulus" and the USD strengthened on the news, yet all they did was reduce printing money from 1 trillion a year to 900 billion a year.

    That's really going to help.

We cannot predict what the future holds. I'm certain that bitcoins are great way for small businesses and freelancers to get noticed.

I don't think bitcoins are a good investment for the general public. What's your take on them, cindyEvans?
