You can never make everyone happy.
Someone did all the leg work and locked in a date. For those who can't make it, unlucky. You can read about it afterwards.

It was moved away from October to avoid a clash with most club champs, and green coring (like Mt Broughton last year).

Coffs Harbour in June would be warmer than Mittagong in September.

And it is only a couple of hours south of Ballina, so it may get the interest of te Brisbanites and Gold Coasters.

Unfortunately maybe closer to the Gold Coast / Brisbanites than the core of the NSW contingent... the Sydneyites??

But I'm just stiring... Bonville is a splendid setting

It's like most Champs, can't please everyone.
We should be thankful someone puts their hand up and organises something, in this case Matty again.....
Heck I'd love to go to all the events but that's never going to be the case.

Not drinking the Hatorade at all just speaking the truth. It was mentioned that the NSW Champs were being played in June to break the year up & to give us a chance to go to the QLD Champs, where in reality there is only 3 or 4 if that are maybe or definitely going. Nothing against the QLD boys but who gives a rat's arse about their champs when we as New South Welshmen should be putting our Champs on when it works best for us? I'm pretty sure everyone who went to the NSW Champs last year thought the time of year was pretty good with the weather being very decent & daylight savings being in effect. I appreciate some Club Champs may be being played around that time but a week or two either way would have worked for most. I also appreciate that Matty has put his hand up again to organise things but if most were honest we all would have liked the NSW Champs to be played not during Winter (June 15* average) & not when it suited the few who want to go to QLD. Hopefully more will put their hand up to attend & yes, you can't make everyone happy but the mediocre turn out so far suggests to me the timing for OUR Champs is way off.

    Get over it mate.

The sole reason for the champs in June was to break up the year. The reason it's in coffs is to play a couple of courses that most may never play, including one of the most visually spectacular in Bonville, and the weather. Another reason is to have a weekend far away from where the majority live. It's a weekend away. The long weekend works for that with the extra time for travel and, as I'm organising, it works for me. I don't really give a bugger about those not able to attend as that will always happen.

The queenslanders didn't come in to the equation, but in saying that, I hope a lot of them attend. They're great blokes and the more, the merrier. Last night 3 said they're depositing today. Re the long weekend, either it's a golf weekend or a family weekend. Simple.

We get you're really upset about not being able to come but stay out of the thread if you're just going to bitch and moan. Feel free to put your hand up now to organise 2015, as I'll be stepping back anyway. you can have it when and where you want.

Like most things, one won't know until one try it.

May be this is not the best time of the year. But we need to give credit to Matt's effect, while most of us is too lazy to organise even the monthly event.

This may not be the best time or best location. But at least some of us will be having fun.

I'll be hopefully locking in my spot this weekend.

I don't give a rats when it's played and what time of year. At least it's not so cold that we can't play the whole year round. Being potentially rugged up with a beanie and what not would not take away from the experience.

FWIW I'm 50/50 for QLD given I'm keen to head to Cairns for their open whenever that is, plus a snow trip in July.

I'm calling bullshit, QLD did come into it because you said that it's being played in June so those who want to go to QLD Champs (ie you) can. I'm not upset because I can't come I can, I was merely commenting that numbers seemed poor & in my opinion that is a direct result of when they are being played.

It's a game of golf, worth nothing but bragging rights. Surely it's not worth arguing over.

Jado , calm down bro. We are all friends here.

No one knows what the turn out is going to be until it get close to the event.

Since it looks like to be a small number of attendees, it probably will be a different time and venue next time.

We will just try to have a good time regardless.

I am definitely out for this. Nothing to do with the timing or location, purely financial reasons...new house and all.

Hope it is a raging success.
