Pepps, I've got several mechanical watches. You don't have to spend a lot if you don't want. Type 'Fossil Mechanical Watch' in google images. I bought a couple about a year ago in New York for about $150. Look the goods. Haven't missed a beat.

Looks like they were designed by the same bloke that designs Machine putters.

Seiko Chronograph does me, although (in pre-mobile phone days) I did have a time teacher watch for yard work and boozy nights.

So ive been talking about buying a sweet automatic mechanical watch for a long time. Finally went out and bought something today.

Its been put off for awhile due to some personal things but it was time. I enrolled back into uni this year and after picking up my student card and a few meetings and lunch, I ended up at sydney vintage watches today in the city and tried on a few I had my eye on. Great service, I had been thinking about a Rolex oyster but ended up walking out with an Omega Speed master instead. Happy days!!

I have a Seiko Perpetual Calendar that I bought in 2000. I love the look and feel of it and it has dual time zones which suits me due to the travel.
I also have a gold Longines dress watch that is absolutely beautiful.
Shows that you can get beauty and function without spending the really big $

I'm going to the US later this year and am going to search my wY through New York for a vintage watch...

In the meantime I got myself a Seiko Asteron GPS watch. Love the auto time setting thing when changing time zones. I also have a G Shock MT-G which uses satellites to change the time by itself. Both cool watches...

So pretty off topic for this thread, but if you only had $300 tops to spend, are there any brands in particular to avoid, or are they all pretty much of a muchness. Rob needs a watch she can actually read now days.
