Man I suck at this game. Perhaps I should take up (insert preferred past time)

The title kinda says it all....

I played of a hcp of 6 or 7 around 12 months ago... whilst I've had some issues with tendonitis in the past 6 - 12 months and had to make some swing changes to stop the pain when playing I now find that I suck big time... I'm currently anchored at 11.5 & can't even play to that???

Perhaps I should take up chess, tiddlywinks or something less demanding...

Anyone else share my pain?

Hey Outcast, I dont offer much advice but this time I will. When your ambitions dont match your abilities give up on life ring CAT, (crisis assessment team) and let them know of your intentions in the first instance. Remember its only a game!!!

Exactly the same here. Peaked at 6 12 months or so back. Anchored at 11. Haven't played to it except once or twice this year. It's frustrating and it makes you question why you bother.

Just stop putting pressure on yourself. Do your best, but stop worrying about scores and try to enjoy the sights and smells and company. The scores will come sooner or later.

Also, in my case I decided that at least part of my problem is mental. If regular golf isn't showing improvement then perhaps some mental exercise might help. Try golf is not a game of perfect by Bob Rotella, or the inner game of golf. I am reading the former at the moment and think it's helping my golf, and it's definitely helping my enjoyment levels.

Do something different to make it fun. Play another course. Have a beer during the round. Go back to your oldest set and enjoy mucking around with them

Trust me fellas, I hear you all... just needed to vent a little after the worst Ambrose round ever.... My partner & I sucked big time & just could not get it together...

We get to do it all over again tomorrow... can't get any worse.... Surely...

Anyways... my night got incredibly better... I just watched the Divinyls live in concert on Studio... Oh, oh, Chrissy you dirty, dirty girl... took me back to 1991 & seeing them live... I've just been mentally raped again.... Oh yes....

I can only dream about singles and hope one day to be under 15, I hear your pain but as others have said, great to be able to play this game. I know F all about clubs/shafts but if you're getting tendonitis, wouldn't those massive X Flex irons be giving you trouble????? hang in there

nah mate, it's not the shafts... it was what my hands were doing at impact...

thicker grips to slow my hands down & different swing to change my shot shape problem solvered. Swing still bedding in, confidence not great just yet...

Even since I changed my thinking to this, my golf has improved along with my enjoyment of the game and my handicap.

Could've easily started this thread myself. Single figures at the start of this year and now struggling even to play to double my anchor. Lost confidence is all it is and for me, the best way to get it back is to relax, look forward to some good rounds when they come (they eventually will), and let go any pretensions about what handicap I 'should' be playing under.
