Do you need different putters and balls to play these artifical greens?
I had some time to kill before last year's Vic Champs, hit a bucket at the Curlewis range, then asked about getting a practice 18 hole on the challenging minigolf course. I was told that it was calibrated to the heavier loan putters and balls, and too fast (or slow) for normal golf equipment (and gave it a miss).

Yes very spammy.
Highly recommend Turfgreen, they build my mini golf designs, including Curlewis Dotty.
Between $130-190 per m2.

These putting greens are too short for how far I blade it.
Looks great! That pic of the green at the side of the house has given me ideas! Are turfgreen servicing Melbourne?
I’m looking at doing a DIY green.
I’ve contacted Supreme Greens and have a quote. Trying to contact Southwest but havent got through yet.
Enduroturf’s another company i’ll Be contacting.
Any advice/feedback from those who have had backyard green installed?
Peter_rs seems happy with Southwest green and how it has lasted. How about the Supreme green owners?
Mines fine mate!
Come take a look for yourself....
Not enough bounce for a realistic basketball court.
As I mentioned in another thread, my putting green is way too fast at the moment. I spoke to the owner of Supreme Greens, and he suggested that my green might need a service, that is, a sweep with a power broom, and replacement of infill.
Unlike Nemo, I have not been brushing my green on a regular basis, over a period of years, so it seems that all of the infill has become compressed over time, and the synthetic grass has flattened. I can hire a power broom from Kennards ($66 for 4 hours), and the synthetic green infill can be purchased from Bunnings for $10 per 20kg (10kg per m2 = expensive overall for my green). I will also get Supreme Greens to send someone out to give a quote, although I doubt that I will be able to justify the cost considering the amount of golf that I play, or don't play.
I had some old golf shoes on for yard work the other day, and as an experiment I did some hard scuffing on the green with the spikes on. This seemed to have some success in breaking up the infill and bringing the green back to life. It has definitely slowed that section down, and looks better too. See the photos. I can't scuff up the whole green with my feet, plus it causes pain to my adductor, but perhaps I could get away with just hiring the power broom. Unfortunately, the standard hard broom doesn't do the job.
Has anyone else needed a "service" or work like this for their green?

That's abuse of the Bat Signal, to get him to come around for a powerbroom and infill work.

Mine could do with a “scuff up†but I quite like it fast as our greens are pretty quick anyway....
I did mention a ridge in one part of the green as well, that will probably get looked at. Considering that it would probably require lifting the green and flattening the base, it is even more unlikely that I would get this work done.
Mine were way too fast. Tap and watch it go, so slightly slower than concrete.
Shouldnt the missus be in charge of broom work? And get her to wear golf shoes while she is doing it
So the scuffing of those sections made it too slow and grainy, but sweeping a little infill back in has settled it down. Still a little too slow, but more realistic. I'm guessing that it will probably need a good power brooming, then a top-up of infill, but not complete replacement.
Thanks Bushy. I might try that although I don't think my pressure washer is great quality.
The original intention was to clean the mould out of a few spots after the wet season.
Calling Rick.
Recently, replaced an 8 seat dining suite with a 2 stool breakfast bar.
Leaves enough space for a 5m x 1.8m, all weather, day-night putting green.
Eventually, it may get set in the ground outside (possibly joined to a couple more).
p.s. I have no idea why the photo has been rotated. Stupid computer.
