I second that. I'd happily pay more for bigger if I did it again.

I doubt you would need it, plus there's the drainage factor....

I'm purely talking cost wise and you would only need 50-60mm of concrete so it would be cheap. I don't think drainage would be too bad as everything would be falling so it would just follow concrete off the edge.
If you had 30-40mm of bedding sand on top I think you'd achieve similar results just might save a little.

I'm not sure, mines only sand based compacted.
Pretty sure concrete would be more expensive.
Ask the guys who have been on mine, it's fairly firm!

Oh ok I thought it was all compacted roadbase with final layer of compacted sand. $300 of concrete would get you a 40m2 green that's why I thought of it because roadbase gets expensive once you keep compacting it to nothing.
When you say firm do you think you could get a similar feel doing it this way?

I've measured it out to be about 20 square metres in the L formation. The area without the grass is about 15 (6.4m x 2.3m).

From what I've been told, they aren't doing installation jobs in Brisbane, and I don't want a DIY kit, but I'll contact them and see how I go.

I have now given the go ahead for the work on my putting green. It is meant to be around 40m2, with fringe grass and three cups. The price got over $5k in the end, which I ummed and ahhhed about, but at the end of the day, it will get used and the kids should have some fun with it too.

I went through the same company as you and Groundability will be doing the work. It is in the same spot, with it becoming more kidney shaped like your mockup and extends a bit more to the left.

Mine won't be happening for at least a couple of weeks yet. I should have thought about the green before the kickoff of pennant season.

I'm using the fringe grass. I'm not sure how this blends in with the rest of my lawn, which is dead at the moment anyway.

With bugger all rain lately there is no rough on the course, so there is no need to practice from it.

They fold the fringe back on itself which is the best visual edge but I got told stories of guys mowing the fringe trying to cut the lawn.

I'm lucky as my whole yard is artificial but if I had it abutting real turf I'd put a nice border of pavers or the like...

I will be worried about doing damage with the edge trimmer.

I'll build a moat or turn the rest of the yard into a bunker. It is pretty dusty at the moment anyway.
