Another +1 for Point Break remake. Don't bother... although surprisingly the wife liked it... think it was all the eye candy for her.

Also +1 that the original is a classic. Love that movie. I remember I saw it twice at the cinema.

This remake has tried to keep some of the similar story line but I didn't think it flowed that well and the story became wishy washy.

I thought they forgot all about the story and just worried about spectacular extreme sport footage, I don't like watching movies in 3D however this one probably should have been watched that way.

It wouldn't have helped it, but it might have distracted me for a while.

Yeah I think if you took it for just some cool extreme sports footage and watched it in 3D, I may have liked it better... to try and intertwine connections to the original movie just made it B grade.

Maybe but the suspension of disbelief got too much when he got off the train (?) at the Bells Beach station (!) and walked past the Spruce trees (!?) onto Bells....

Same here - I enjoyed the original, maybe just for the scenes with the Chilli's.

Spoiler alert - though if it spoils it for you then it was your own fault for going to see it!

One of the great things about the original was that you liked and almost had empathy for the bad guys, even though they were absolutely, dead on, in it purely for themselves, bad guys. But you still liked them!

To change that to 'they're a kinda Robin Hood kinda good bad guys' just sux to me, and ruins one of the good things about the original. Was it because they don't think audiences are smart enough to like genuine 'in it for themselves' bad guys, or they think they'll get criticised if the bad guys don't actually have a heart of gold or something? Or maybe the producer and director and the actors weren't good enough to pull off the 'genuinely feel for the bad guys' thing? I don't know. But seeing the preview and realising that was enough for me to never want to see it.

Default Movies that are a steaming pile of Do Do

I'm a big Tarantino fan and was looking forward to his 8th film; the hateful 8.

This is by far his worst movie by a long shot. First it's long (3 hours) with the first hour dedicated to discussion in a horse cart, then it goes into another scene and that's about it.

But of course there is lots of gore at the ending which I normally love. But it lacked so much substance it ended up feeling like a 14 year old had written a fun play for school where everybody dies.

2 stars, the good acting holds it up enough to grant it something

And then they showed a left hand barrel wave like Pipeline, except bells is a right, and doesn't barrel like that. Several time in the old movie they showed unrealistic waves for the location. Both Movies use were good in their respective times, but the villains were more realistic in the 1st. I took the kids to the new one, then watched the old one, they like both.

I thought it was a pretty good 2 hour Tarantino movie stretched to 3 hours.

Eg. I didn't need to see the door being closed 5 times. 2 would have been enough.

Absolutely brilliant! Love the 5th Element. Saw it in the cinema. It was the first movie we owned on DVD, bought it as we bought our first dvd player. Even better is Rob loves it too. I was tired so went to sleep last night, but Rob stayed up and watch it on SBS by herself!

The fifth element doesn't hold much storyline and is a bit nerd burglar in places.

But I like it; it's just a fun movie to watch when it comes on the tv
